What I feel a bit let down about is the quality of our football since the first 45 minutes against Aston Villa. Our passing has become very sloppy
Newcastle were posing a definite threat down the other end, especially from long throws and corners. On 35 minutes they had a corner from the right that found the head of Steven Taylor. Although he was sandwiched between two players he managed to direct his effort goalwards but was matched by a great save from Almunia
bou Diaby and Robin van Persie are still two or three weeks away from returning. We’ll end up getting them back just at the end of our busiest fixture period of the season so far. Perfect. Hleb, Flamini and Fabregas are also out of this fixture
Highlight – so many to choose from: the deadlock breaker against Man City early in the season, a screamer at Spurs, a masterclass against Slavia
I hate the fact that both Hleb and Cesc and missing for the match tomorrow, I would be so confident about the game if they were playing.
Through a mixture off illness and sheer boredom of sitting at home, I’ve decided to analyse each individual player’s season so far. I’ve come up with highlights (and in some cases, lowlights)
We face Newcastle United on Wednesday probably without Cesc and Hleb who are our top creative players right now so that could be a problem. My guess is that Rosicky will take over from Hleb in the central creative free role
We were bossing things early on and Hleb was particularly prominent – with Cesc out, his contribution would be vital and he lived up to the billing. So when Villa’s goal came on the quarter hour it was a bit of a sucker punch. Flamini misplaced a pass
Aleksandr Hleb took over from the injured Cesc Fabregas as the creative leader of the side and he was unplayable
hmmmm, nothing to tease you with really.
