Anyway, most of today's talk has been about the AGM but if I am truly honest with you, the only part of the AGM that I enjoy these days is listening to Arsene Wenger speak. Probably because it is the only part that is 100% about the football. The rest of it feels like the same old thing, Ivan Gazidis saying pretty much what we've already heard but just in a slightly different way. That is no slight on Ivan, who I personally feel gets far too much criticism for just doing his job but how many times can a man say basically that we pride ourselves on being run the right way and that due to our increased commercial deals we are heading in
Mesut Özil had to leave the pitch with half an hour to spare yesterday due to some sort of knee problem, it had Arsenal fans fretting whilst fans of other clubs on Twitter were celebrating, especially those lot from down the road. Luckily it appears as if the German playmaker supreme was taken off as a precaution. Mr Engine Aaron Ramsey powered through yet another 90 minutes for Wales, his engine didn't seem like slowing down anytime soon as he ran a full 60 yards to get on the end of Craig Bellamy's pass to score the equaliser. Giroud and Koscielny also came through their game for France unscathed. Wojciech Szczesny had a very good game for Poland against England and it is great to see his form continue. Hopefully this is growth and not just form because since the

Arsenal players who started their games. We had a few goal scorers last night, Nicklas Bendtner leading the way with a brace. That is now 24 goals in 56 games for his country. While Bendtner has clearly lost his way off the pitch in the last few seasons, I think the mocking of his ability is down to his perceived character rather than his actual playing ability. Interestingly though, I don't think I've ever read
Wilshere comments, first the smoking incident, a boring non story. Personally speaking, I believe that if a player wants to be the best he can then he shouldn't drink or smoke so I essentially agree with Arsene Wenger but I am not foolish enough to believe that players do not do it. It has been blown up because it is Jack Wilshere. These new comments about England players being English is just an attempt to jump on the controversy from the smoking debate. It is not necessarily about knocking the player down but a chance to create a storm which in turn gets people talking, commenting,

Szczesny has been a breath of fresh air. He looks to be focused and has this look of someone who is confident in his own ability. He has pulled up some very good saves, gathered almost everything in the air, communicates well with his defence and his passing, both long and short have improved a notch. Our keeper situation is looking to be secure with him manning the post and we have got Fabianski and Viviano to keep him firmly on his feet. Only bodes well for us.

The lack of natural width proved a problem in the first half. Aside from Wilshere’s troubles, Aaron Ramsey was virtually anonymous before picking up a knock that eventually forced him off. Rosicky came on in his place but his advancing years and diminishing pace mean that he can not ‘stretch’ the game in the same way a more traditional wide player would be expected to. The goal we conceded came in part from poor marking but also allowing Amanfiltano more time than was necessary to find Yacub with a ball into the box. It would be harsh to blame Ramsey for not getting tighter to stop the cross but I don’t think it’s at all unfair to think a more naturally inclined wide player would have shut that down better.

Wilshere's first half display down to his left position, he has had some very good games in that position this season. In my opinion he lacks simplisticity. Or at least knowing when to be simplistic and when to try and make something happen. It is this reason why I enjoy watching Tomas Rosicky so much. As with Ramsey and other players like Hleb before him, this issue is a temporary issue rather than a longer term problem. Match fitness and playing games will sort this out. In that first half especially, Wilshere would try and dribble past one too many players, get tackled and stay down holding his ankle. There are times when Wilshere's burst past a couple players and then pass makes chances out of nothing but often the early pass to one of the floating Özil, Ramsey, Giroud etc is the better option. Credit to Wilshere

something came to my attention, a group of people have become very defensive about the way they slated Ramsey’s performances and called for him to be dropped over the last few years, they have also gone on, to defend in which the manner they slated his performances and questioned Arsene Wenger for playing him. So, not only were they completely wrong in their judgement of him, but on top of that, they add that they were right to be dismissive of his skill, his quality and dismissive of what currently is the best manager in the league saw in him. Some minorities went further than being dismissive, but abusive, and took pride in the abuse or stick they gave the player
