Özil will find Theo & Teach Wilshere

I shall write more about Özil at a later date, my bed is calling me but I will say that Theo Walcott and Oliver Giroud must be the happiest players at the club. Especially Theo. The reason why Santi Cazorla was moved from centrally to the left was to give the team some added creativity. With Podolski and Walcott out wide, the team relied too heavily on Cazorla who was often marked out of games so the team suffered with supplying our three forwards who all need supply. Tomas Rosicky a fantastic player in his own right, a player who makes others play better with his intelligence and movement but what he is not is a chance creator. Well not as much as the position demanded. In league matches Rosicky produced 2 assists in 10 league games last season. His highest amount of

Tottenham (h) – Iron Man's Post Match Thoughts

I often bemoan the brainfarts that individual players tend to suffer. According to Opta, if goals from individual errors were removed from the entire Premier League last season, Arsenal would have been champions. Maybe somebody told the players this on Sunday as what we saw was as disciplined a defensive display as we have for many a year. As discussed, Tottenham had much of the ball but couldn’t penetrate a backline marshalled admirably by the returning Laurent Koscielny. Anything that did sneak through was dealt with by Szczesny, but it wasn't just the defence that deserves praise.

Tottenham (h) Thoughts & Line Up: Continuity vs New players, who will come out on top?

Both clubs have operated in the transfer market at different ends of the spectrum this summer and I am sure both clubs will be hoping that they will gain the advantage from the squads they have. While Tottenham will be showing off new faces, I cannot help but feel that our continuity of squad will give us the edge, that could well be wishful thinking but I remember this time last season when we drew to Sunderland and Stoke City and we lacked attacking cohesion, I haven't watched the Tottenham games so far but two 1-0 results

Your Vision – A Summer to Forget

Perhaps I should be thinking more positively. What I’m writing is pretty negative but that’s only because I tried looking on the bright side only to find that it was about as bright as an energy saving light bulb that had just this second been switched on. You never know though. We may sign Ozil, Benzema and di Maria in the 71 hours that, at the time of writing, remain of this window. I personally think all three moves are dead in the water; we missed good chances earlier in the summer and even those three moves would not suffice. But hey.

Opposition Vision – A Tottenham fan on the North London derby

We’ve lost a match winner.  Bale scored 26 goals last season and there were some absolutely some crucial ones, such as his last minute winner at West Ham. We were dubbed as a “one-man” side and now we have word-class strength and depth in the additions which Levy, Baldini and AVB have made to the Spurs ranks since the end of the last campaign. It’s an exciting time to be a Spurs fans, but we cannot sit back on our laurels.  The new arrivals have to ‘gel’ immediately and fill the void which Bale will leave.

Arsenal rekindle love affair with Flamini & Late night transfer lock ins

He can replace an injured Arteta and keep the experience levels. He may not be technically as good as Mikel but I'd suspect that he is still more mobile than our vice captain. I quite like the idea of shoring up our midfield at times by removing a Santi or Wilshere for example and playing a midfield trio of Arteta, Flamini and Ramsey to hold onto a result. Or going away from home setting up our base for the counter attack. We also have the option of using Flamini at right back or at a push left back so he makes for determined, experienced and versatile cover. An older Coquelin

Your Vision – Arsenal snubbed by Europe’s top footballing totty in transfer dating game

Flamini is back to give the relationship another try.  Back to rekindle the old footballing Barca-lite romance with his mentor. Fans thought it was a going to be a one year fling but it appears not. Flaming-hot-but-slightly-past-it Flamini is here for three more years and he’s come at a fairly hefty price. How much you say”? Why that will be 75 bags a week Monsieur Wenger. Because like Cheryl and her rosy-arsed tattoo I’m worth it”! “You can tell Mr Dickie that too…..ooh and don’t forget Darren’s match-making bonus”.

Fenerbache (h) – Iron Mans Match Thoughts

And as all hope faded, their frustrations got the better of them. Rather than trying to play football, Fener players, led by Raul Meireles, seemed hell bent on trying to see who could score the most points by hitting the apparent bullseyes Jack Wilshere had on him. Thankfully, he doesn't appear to have suffered any lasting effects but for someone who we were still led to believe is fighting his way back to full fitness, the slightest touch is enough to cause the rest of us

Fenerbahçe (h) Thoughts & Line Up: Monreal, Counter punching & Preparation for Sunday

Arsene has said that 95% of the team will be the same as against Fulham. We haven't got a great deal to play around with so I am guessing that Monreal will start as he is the closest competitive back up that we have at present. Also Tomas Rosicky started to look a little tired at the end of the Fulham

Iron Man's Thoughts – Fulham observations

You’d have to go back some way to find a domestic match where we played as well as this. The key to the success has to be the way the team was able to demonstrate its overwhelming superiority in midfield. Although, going up against Scott Parker and Steve Sidwell, I expect nothing less. While I’d still very much welcome a designated defensive midfielder, it cannot be denied how well the trio on Saturday worked together as a unit. Santi was at his metronomic best dictating the play and teasing Fulham like some sort of fleet-footed burlesque dancer.  The constant debate over whether he should be in the middle or coming in from wide areas is one I never really understood. When he plays like this, there are very few opposition players who could even get near him. And even if
