The loudest Arsenal fans were of course situated in the "North Bank" (see above) and were on decent form throughout the game, with some chants for the now legendary Emmanuel Eboue plus a touching rendition of "there’s only one Johnny Hartson"
Van Persie and Cesc went back to the short corner routine, Cesc played it to Van Persie who cut inside and reversed a ball back to Cesc who was jogging into the box from the corner
Wenger sacrificed cutting edge for ball players, he wanted his team to have the ball and keep it. Theo Walcott is the one player who can frighten the opposition in full flight but when the game isn't stretched he cannot keep it.
If Samir Nasri is to be deployed as a central midfielder he has to do much better defensively, Anelka brushed him aside and Nasri almost looked like he was casually jogging back
Samir Nasri was our best player in the opening minutes, he had drive, energy and control from both central midfield and left wing. Next season will be a big season for the young lad who is still only 21 years old
Better Arsenal teams in recent years have had much tougher times at Fratton park but as that saying goes, you can only beat what is in front of you and at 2-0 up Portsmouth were being brushed aside
I would have thought Wenger may have rotated the players to try and get back into the game. Abou Diaby on the left, Samir Nasri in holding midfield and Francesc Fabregas behind Adebayor was not working
Eboue who was having a superb attack game from right back spotted a forward run from Cesc Fabregas and his pass was inch perfect, it allowed Cesc to waltz around Jones and slot into an open net from a tighish angle
The last twenty minutes was just insane. Liverpool needed a victory so they had to push forward, that suited Arshavin, Cesc and Walcott. So the game opened up in a big way
Two goals conceded, two goals not helped by our stand in players. Wrong selection or not we badly missed a huge percentage of our first choice defence and keeper
