We looked like a boxer going up against one of the hardest hitters in the business, jabbing at our opponent without once putting our guard up. Inevitably Chelsea struck with pretty much the first blow and Eto’o was on hand to curl it around Szczesny. Moments later André Schürrle drove a low shot into the corner of Szczesny’s net Then in full self implosion mode Oxlade-Chamberlain stuck out an arm to block a Hazard shot that was going wide anyway. The referee clearly not having seen the incident was trying to communicate with one of his officials. Then mistaking Chamberlain he sent off Kieran Gibbs even though Chamberlain was seen telling the referee that he was the guilty culprit.

That was one almighty body smash to the ribs, it hurts like crazy. Arsene said yesterday that it was our most important match of the season so it is incredibly disappointing to see us crumble the way we did so early in the game.
Before Chelsea scored we looked up for it, taking the game to Chelsea and pressing them up the pitch, Giroud was presented with a good chance in which he shot straight at Cech then my stream had died as I was frantically trying to get one that worked and my phone started beeping continuously with messages. The next time I got a stream up and running we were 2-0 down. Unbelievable. I could hardly believe it, how on earth was this happening?
Arsene decided to go for it and in doing so we looked horrifically exposed at the back.

Inevitably Chelsea struck with pretty much the first blow and Eto’o was on hand to curl it around Szczesny. Quite why Chelsea were allowed so much space is beyond me. We look so hard to beat when we keep our shape and defend in numbers but in these big games we seem to like whipping up our skirts and exposing ourselves.
Moments later André Schürrle was given the freedom of the Arsenal half to drive forward consider a pass, change his mind and then drive a low shot into the corner of Szczesny’s net. You’re welcome.

Hazard made it three from the spot and the game as a contest was over. The game then turned into damage limitation. Turned out we are not that great at that game either.
Chelsea scored more goals and we could not really create enough to trouble Chelsea. Partly because they defended deep and in numbers when we had the ball. It is this aspect that leaves me scratching my head. Last weekend at Tottenham we trusted in our defence and thwarted attack after attack. We were able to exploit what I called a laughable high line. Given that losing this game was going to almost give us no chances of the league title you would have thought that a safety first approach would have been the sensible option.
Instead Chelsea were breaking through our midfield and sliding balls in behind us, we were all over the shop and struggled with it massively all game.
That is now 6 against Chelsea and Manchester City and a further 5 at Liverpool. If we are looking to win the league then finding the cause of these defeats will be a necessity.
What must happen now is a positive response from the players, we’ve said that a few times this season and thankfully we have seen such responses a few times already.
With both Liverpool and Manchester City winning today it has been a Saturday to forget. Let’s get it right before Swansea City on Tuesday.
