Consistant Cesc could be player of the year

Alot of positive vibes are flying around at the moment about our midfield dynamo Matty Flamini

Good afternoon,

And yes, it still feels quite good doesn’t it? It just goes to show how quickly football teams can go up and down. The negative feeling of drawing against Aston Villa has been pretty much wiped clean.

Wigan are next on the agenda and it will be a totally different match to the Champions League clash. I expect Wigan to be negative and highly committed as most teams are when they face us. We will not have as much space and time to play our football as we did so very well in the San Siro.

It is a little early to talk about the Wigan match so I will get more into it when I have heard what Arsene Wenger says about the likes of Robin Van Persie and Theo Walcott.

Alot of positive vibes are flying around at the moment about our midfield dynamo Matty Flamini. It appears that he is close to signing a new contract as both Wenger and the player have given hints about his future.

Wenger Said: I can only repeat what he told me and that he wants to stay,” Wenger said. “We should know more about that situation in March.”

Which reminded me of when he was set to sign a new contract before coming out in public.

Flamini Said: “Like I have said before I am very happy here,” said Flamini. “Every game I give more than 100 per cent and I love playing for this team. We are a new generation, we have to create a new history. I want to be part of this history so I hope I will be here for next season.

“At the moment my advisers they are talking with the Club so I really hope that everything will be OK. I cannot put a time on it. But I really want to stay here.

Doesn’t really sound like a player who isn’t sure of what he wants does it? The most important thing for Arsene during the summer isn’t buying new players, it isn’t working out where we need to strengthen. The most important thing is to keep ALL of our key players together. Clichy, Toure, Hleb, Cesc, Flamini, Van Persie, Adebayor all need to stay together for at least another 3 years. If they do this then there is no doubt that we will have a very good chance of becoming the best team in Europe.

Chelsea can keep signing star names, spending crazy amounts of money on international players but in doing this what they will never have is a side who are growing up together and creating special bonds that you cannot buy no matter how much you spend.

This team could well need another 3 years or so to reach their peak. Vela will give us the additional pace and goalscoring threat. Walcott will be a very dangerous and productive player in 3 years and will find consistency in his performances. There are not many players who do not improve after 18 years old.

Champions League draw a week on Friday.

Manchester United
Chelsea
Barcelona
Roma
Fenerbache
Liverpool / Inter Milan
Schalke 04

I am hoping that we are not drawn against any of the English sides because they will prove to be the hardest. I would rate our chances higher against Barcelona to say Liverpool. Barcelona would be alot more open and would play us to win. Liverpool would play us to stop us winning.

I cannot decide who would be better out of the English teams (if we had to face one) I guess we have to face that bridge once we come to it.

Whoever we face, we need Cesc Fabregas to be at his brilliant best again, as he was in that famous night in the San Siro.

Manuel Almunia has been signing the little Spaniards praises.

Almunia Said: “He will get even better and become a legend at Arsenal. He has the capacity, skill and quality to be as good as Kaka and become a great player.

“In one year, he has improved a great deal. I don’t think it matters to Cesc in which stadium he plays in, or against which team, because he just enjoys his football so much.

All Cesc needs is consistency. If he can play towards his best for the whole season then there is a good chance that he will pick up personal awards. Cesc dipped in form for large periods of the season so far but hopefully his Milan display will kickstart his season. We need Cesc to be back at his best if we are to win trophies.

More Tomorrow.
