If individually they can score 25+ goals each and continue to sweat blood for the team then they will be very important to the team
Appologies for the random timings of my posts these days, my life is not as structured as it was last year and will continue to be this way as the birth of my daughter is due in the next 5 weeks *gasp*
Interesting Adebayor comments coming out about his partnership with Robin Van Persie.
“We enjoy playing together – Robin’s a very good player,” Adebayor told The Sun.
“In our heads we have the same ambition, which is to help this team win something.
“We’re trying for a telepathic understanding and against Porto we’ve shown we can do something.
“Hopefully, as we go on we will get to know each other better and learn how each other plays.
“If Robin is fit for the whole season we have a chance to do something special, that’s for sure.
“We talk off the pitch about the way we play.
“You must discuss what you have done well and what you have done badly.”
I have always been unsure of the Ade & Robin partnership and to be honest I still am. My mind has been partly brainwashed from watching Dennis Bergkamp play alongside Ian Wright, Nicolas Anelka and then Thierry Henry. To me this is how Arsenal play, it is the template that we put together by Arsene Wenger and was the recipe for previous double seasons and fa cup successes.
Both individual strikers have fantastic strengths that they bring to the team, I do not think there can be a single fan that can deny that and even though they do link up pretty well (first really noticed against Real Madrid pre season) I still do not think they naturally compliment each other.
This is not to say they cannot be a success for the team. If individually they can score 25+ goals each and continue to sweat blood for the team then they will be very important to the team.
I do however like then natural chemistry between the Bendtner – Vela partnership but that is largely untested at a high enough level to really argue about right now. Like Squid boy mentioned yesterday I would like to see them played in every FA cup match.
Theo Walcott is doing so well these days that he is involved in a national tug-of-war between England manager Fabio Capello and under 21s boss Stuart Pearce.
Pearce spoke to Capello after Theo’s treble against Croatia
“I want Theo to represent the Under-21s again next summer in the finals, if we are good enough to get past the Welsh,”
“He (Capello) didn’t really answer my question, he just burst out laughing,” recalled the England Under-21 manager
I don’t know what is best for Theo but anything that can improve his overall play and boost his confidence is fine by me. The great thing about this kid is that we have only witnessed a glimpse of what Theo can do. I think we will see the best of him half way through the season.
Gotta dash, day is almost done already. Enjoy the rest of it.
Until tomorrow.
