Don’t panic, Here Comes the Cavalry! & Bendtner to emulate RVP

Robin Van Persie certainly isn’t a target man but it works for him because of his ability to drop off and play as the link man. I see Bendtner in that same mould and potentially he could link up well with Arshavin

Picture the scene, a cold and snowy battle ground, Uneven surfaces along with terrible conditions. The Arsenal warriors are being outnumbered. Arshavin with a strapped right foot is using weapons he is not familiar with, wielding away against Everton’s fiery dragons.

Denilson is clutching his side and has sunk to one knee, he has given up the fight, a swish from a dragons powerful tail is heading straight towards Denilson but for the heroics of Rosicky, who jumps at the Brazilian and pushes him away from the thudding tail, spraying snow up into the air.

‘Hang on in there Deni, the others will be here soon, I promise’ cries Tomas,

Armand Traore and William Gallas accidentally slash each other with their swords and have to be pulled apart as tempers flair up. They soon back off as they see the evil Bolton clogger Dragons coming towards them.

Ramsey drops his sword to and screams ‘I have nothing left, we cannot defeat them’

Thomas Vermaelen points to the distance, snow half covering his face. It’s them, we’re saved.

In charge Cesc Fabregas, Gael Clichy and Nicklas Bendtner on horse back, all three looking fresh and menacing. Ramsey finds the strength to lift his sword again, the new boys jump straight into the thick of the action.

To cut a long story short, the warriors manage to slay all the dragons that come along, it actually takes quite awhile. Sometime in may I would imagine.

I think I have been watching too many films, however news that some of our players are on the way back has put me in a good mood. Cesc Fabregas is ready for Sunday, Gael Clichy is fit but Arsene will not want to throw him straight into the fire after being out for so long but apparently he is looking ‘very very sharp’ in training according to Arsene which is very good to hear. Gael Clichy is one of my favourite players. He hasn’t really found his best form consistently since 2007/2008 but when he is on his game then I struggle to find a better left back.

How many times have we seen the opposition passing the ball around, trying to find an opening and then out of nowhere Clichy zooms in and whisks the ball away from the intended target 5 second later we are at the other end of the pitch. Lets not forget how much room Clichy has for improvement and experience. My biggest concern with Clichy is his final ball. Considering the fact that he gets into so many good attacking positions, he really needs to be picking out Arsenal players more often. Like I said, he has room to improve and I am sure he will over time.

Nicklas Bendtner has been making good progress and is roughly two weeks away from a return to the side, even when he returns he will need games to get his match fitness up. Bendtner has been a slow starter in the past and I expect the same to happen again when he returns to the team.

When he is ready, he will certainly give the team another dimension. Many Gooners have wanted to see Bendtner leading the line in the new system and I really think it can work for him. I do not see Bendtner as a traditional lone striker but that could work to his advantage in this system.

Robin Van Persie certainly isn’t a target man but it works for him because of his ability to drop off and play as the link man. I see Bendtner in that same mould and potentially he could link up well with Arshavin.

It will be good to have his ability in the air from set pieces and crosses, not that we attempt that many crosses in the box in the first place.

Craig Eastmond is the latest Gooner to be tied down to a new long term contract at Arsenal. He has been one of the surprises of the season. We have all expected the likes of Francis Coquelin and Emmanuel Frimpong to be the players to step forward into the first team midfield. Instead converted right back Eastmond played fantastically well against Liverpool at the Emirates in the Carling Cup and showed that he is a bright light for the future.

Apparently Wenger doesn’t like playing English players so I scratch my head why Frenchman Coquelin has had less chances this season.

In the absence of Song and possibly Denilson for the trip to Bolton you would imagine that Eastmond will be given a place on the Arsenal bench as back up even with the outside chance of starting the game.

Eastmond’s reserve partner Jack Wilshere could be heading to Holland on loan. Steve McClaren’s high flying FC Twente have allegedly shown an interest in taking him for the rest of the season.

I think it would be a good move for him, a team flying high who play good technical football. The only issue would be having to adapt and then readapt back to English football.

ok, well that is that for now, Back again tomorrow.
