Early Newcastle Thoughts / Assisting Sagna

We face Newcastle United on Wednesday probably without Cesc and Hleb who are our top creative players right now so that could be a problem. My guess is that Rosicky will take over from Hleb in the central creative free role

I have had a few days to digest the Arsenal victory against Aston Villa and I have come to this conclusion.

Toure, Sagna, Gallas and Clichy will pretty much stay consistent for the rest of the season, they look like a unit now and not just individual defenders. Van Persie will always score goals as long as he is fit. But the most important thing is that if Cesc, Hleb and Rosicky can play to at least 80% of their potential then we will win the league.

In the first half against Aston Villa without the seasons best midfield player we played football that would have torn through any team in world football.

Sagna, Eboue, Diarra, Rosicky and Bendtner are all on the way up right now and we will see the best of them at the end of the season should they continue to get games.

We face Newcastle United on Wednesday probably without Cesc and Hleb who are our top creative players right now so that could be a problem. My guess is that Rosicky will take over from Hleb in the central creative free role behind Adebayor or Bendtner should he rest the former. Walcott will probably play wide left in Rosicky’s position.

After saying all of this, I have a feeling that Arsene will fancy a little rotation with all the games coming thick and fast. It is unlikely that the back four will be affected as Arsene will not want to destabilise the side, especially the defence but Gilberto and Bendtner may well be pressing for a start, it depends on who Arsene feels is more tired than others.

Does anyone know how many assists Sagna has got this season? I can think of three off the top of my head (Manchester United (Cesc), Wigan (Gallas), Villa (Adebayor) I am sure there has been more but I cannot think of them. I really feel that Clichy should get past the opposition fullback a bit more and play cut backs the way that Eboue and Sagna do. It seems like Clichy just puts in wasted crosses in from the left when he clearly has the pace and ability to beat fullbacks.

Did you see Larrsons goal? I laughed and cheered as I watched the ball fly into the very top corner from fully 35 yards out. And what makes it better is the fact that it was into stoppage time. How the Spuds fans must of felt watching a former Gooner condemn them to a home defeat, you couldn’t have written the script.

It takes me back to the start of the season when people were expecting Tottenham to finish above us because they ‘spent big’ haha they are just dangling above the relegation teams and are a whopping 24 points behind us who so happen to be top of the league 5 points ahead of Chelsea with a game in hand.

Does anybody know which pundits were writing us off? I want to add some quotes on the site but I cannot seem to find any. Stick em in ze comments below.

Adebayor has been stating that very fact.

“Three or four months ago people were saying they were not sure we would finish fourth and now they say we are going to be unbeaten all season.

“This was a test. Every single game is a test. If we beat Newcastle on Wednesday then people will say Middlesbrough is another big test. I think we are ready for all the tests.

Very good and true points from the big man who’s build up play was fantastic on Saturday evening. He needs to power some more headers in like he did though. Sometimes I feel he is trying to get too involved in the build up instead of being the main focus in the penalty area.

We have been drawn against Burnley from the Championship away from home in the FA Cup in January. Burnley have been playing pretty well lately and with Arsene probably sending out a Sevilla type team against them it has the potential to be a possible banana skin for our boys, although I feel we will have far too much for them. I expect a physical and direct approach from them. We will see the likes of Fabinanski, Hoyte, Traore, Senderos and Eduardo all get a chance to prove their worth.

More tomorrow.
