I still feel that Wenger will tinker with his selection. We have some fresh squad players who will allow bones to be rested and with the internationals that have just gone you would imagine that Wenger will want to take full advantage of that
Ok, a little late for a daily round up because (and I am guessing here) you have already read all the news about five times from five different authors. Fair enough, how about the match preview? nope, already wrote that this morning.
So that sort of leaves me twiddling my fingers, but as I am on the train on my way home and I cannot be arsed to do anything work related I have to write something to make my journey easier. Sorry nothing to do with giving you something to read that is because I am selfish like that.
I am looking forward to the game tonight, not really sure what to make of it as I know very little nothing whatsoever about Standard Liege apart from when we whopped them seven nil in 1993, I am guessing that they are probably a little better than that these days though.
We have a big collection of attacking injuries to deal with, seven in total which is pretty substantial but if Arsene doesn’t rotate too much and plays his strongest players then the team actually looks pretty decent.
Sagna Gallas Vermaelen Clichy
Cesc Song Diaby
Bendtner Eduardo Rosicky
Now I don’t know about you but when you have a list like..
Arshavin, Van Persie, Vela. Nasri, Walcott and Denilson missing from the squad then you have to be pretty chuffed about that line up.
When I wrote the thoughts and predictions earlier today it was before Wenger’s pre match talk in which he seemed pretty positive about Rosicky and didn’t rule him starting which was a pleasant surprise I must say. Perhaps he read my views on why perhaps he should start the game instead of bringing him on. Maybe not, I am not really stupid enough to think that our manager would listen to me.
I still feel that Wenger will tinker with his selection. We have some fresh squad players who will allow bones to be rested and with the internationals that have just gone you would imagine that Wenger will want to take full advantage of that.
Perhaps I shouldn’t be saying this too loudly but what can I do. I am going to agree with something that Myles Palmer said recently. I know, I know. I shall arrange the doctors appointment tomorrow.
Our fullbacks.
Two very good players, I love them dearly but they probably frustrate me more than any players on the pitch. We play never narrow football and teams often play narrow themselves to stop us from passing through them, this gives Clichy and Sagna acres of space in wide positions and for some unknown reason they often produce very poor quality crosses. Without blowing a trumpet that I do not even own I am a pretty decent crosser of the ball so I would expect Arsenal players to be able to pick team mates out. It is quite worrying when Sagna curls the ball into the first defender every time or Clichy crosses into the goalkeepers hands with no pressure on him.
The strange thing is that in Sagna’s first season at Arsenal he managed to get a decent number of assists from crosses but since then I struggle to count on one hand dangerous crosses.
I beg on my knees that these two are continuously practicing this part of their game and that they can improve because we must have lost quite a decent amount of points from our lack of good crosses over the last few years.
“We are now approaching….” Thats my cue. Enjoy the game Gooners.
