Kieran Gibbs the converted left winger already is at a higher level in putting in the right cross which Adebayor and our forwards can benefit from. He has played in many Carling cup and FA Cup games
I was going to write my Wigan thoughts today but I shall do that tomorrow instead. I do not have much in the way of time today so I will make this brief.
I am still rather annoyed that injuries have struck our squad again, William Gallas will be a massive blow to our squad as he has been in fantastic form since Cesc Fabregas was appointed as club captain. Our manager has said that it will not be his last game for the club as many have speculated that he will be off in the summer.
“He has a year left on his contract. I envisage him to be here next year.
“He had a challenging season but I believe he had to cope with a major disappointment. You have to give him a lot of credit because he came back with great performances so he dealt well with the situation.
“He turns up in the big games with goals – when it matters. And that was a good surprise.”
I sure hope he does stay, he has been our best central defender over the course of the season. He may have made mistakes as captain but he is a winner and a fighter, the younger players need that as an example.
Speaking of the youngsters, the young ones minus Rosicky (who of course isn’t a youngster) got beaten at home by Tottenham 3-0. It was a side that was missing several first team players. The result didn’t match the result.
With Gallas and Clichy both missing for long and short term we look to the replacements, most of us will sigh at the thought of missing two experienced first team players but I like looking at positives. As fantastic as Clichy is at intercepting and racing forward, his final delivery is still not what it should be. Kieran Gibbs the converted left winger already is at a higher level in putting in the right cross which Adebayor and our forwards can benefit from. He has played in many Carling cup and FA Cup games so far and has hardly put a foot wrong. Johan Djourou was arguably a big part of why the team transformed and become defensively much more stable. He replaced Toure and slotted in perfectly alongside Gallas. He won balls in the air and looked assured on the ball.
Fingers crossed that they can come in and find their feet quickly.
Lassana Diarra and Andrey Arshavin have very different opinions on their time at Arsenal football club. Diarra is not very impressed with his former manager Arsene Wenger.
When asked about what he has learnt from the greatest manager in world football, Dolphin boy said.
”Me? Nothing. I did not learn anything from Wenger. He just taught me to doubt everything. The relationship I had with him was not good.
”You cannot understand the whole world. I respect the way you train, but I learned more with (former Chelsea manager Jose) Mourinho. Mourinho taught me to fight. I spoke looking into his eyes.
”If you had a problem, it would be discussed. Wenger never addressed me until I told him I was going. He talked to others, but not me. I feel like I never played for Arsenal.
”If people do not remind me of them (Arsenal), I forget about them. It’s erased from my memory.”
There was obviously more going on than we know, I like to try and forget him also. A player who has something a little more positive to say is Andrey Arshavin.
Andrey the little giant said:
“At Arsenal I feel at home. I like everything here – the friendly team, a wise and experienced manager, and fantastic fans. I won’t leave the club for any money. That we are fourth in the Premier League is an achievement of the whole of the team – not my own. I hope my real successes with Arsenal are still to come.”
Now, is this a classy guy or what? He has said all the right things off the pitch and done all the right things on the pitch. There is much more to come from this guy and that is just great for Arsenal football club.
Right, I better be gone. Wigan thoughts and predictions tomorrow.
