Gilberto is a different player to Flamini / Happy Hleb

I am not in the camp of Gilberto is now a shit player when he was our best player overall last season

I am beginning to hate International friendlies more and more as the years go by. Flamini picked up a knee injury playing a pointless ‘B team’ friendly for France against Congo. It is unknown how bad the actual injury is but the knee is an area not to be messed with on the whole. The indications are that his injury is not that serious but we will not know until either the French or our manager come out and inform us of his state.

In the worst case scenario we will draft back Gilberto to first team duties which on current form is a scary prospect. I am not in the camp of Gilberto is now a shit player when he was our best player overall last season. But what I will say is that he has not had enough games to produce his best form. When a player is not playing week in week out then they lack match sharpness and form and it can only take a run of games before they get back to full match fitness. Senderos is the perfect example of this. Once Toure comes back into the back four alongside Gallas and Phil is back on the sidelines then fans will go back to saying that he is shit and should be shipped out of the club.

On an ever so slightly smaller scale I used to play football every Tuesday and Thursday and was in the form of my life I would say then I gave up footie for a few months when my son was born. 5 or so months later I went back to playing football and I was a joke, a complete utter joker. I couldn’t trap a ball or make a simple pass. Yes, professional players should be different because they are ever so slightly better than me (tongue in cheek of course) but it is the same principle.

Gilberto is a different player to Flamini and will bring other qualities if he is match fit but we would miss Flamini’s drive and tough tackling. Lets just hope that it is not serious.

Speaking of Gilberto, for the first as far as I can remember he has come out and spoken publicly about his discontent of not being a first team player this season. I first heard this on the Times online podcast a few days ago, Gilberto was a guest on the show and he spoke very openly about how Arsene has been trying to keep his sprits up but he does not want to be a back up player. The only way that he will stay is if Flamini picks up a serious injury and he comes in and plays the best football of his career but I cannot see it happening, especially at his age.

“At the moment I cannot see any future for me at the club,” he told The Guardian. “

“I will see what will happen in the next few months and until the end [of the season], if I will get the chance to come back in the team. If not, I will see what I am going to do at the end.

Theo Walcott had a good evening for the under 21s last night, they beat Republic of Ireland 3-0 and he scored the third goal from the left cutting in on his right foot and bending a shot around the keeper. If only playing for Arsenal was as easy as it is playing International football.

Theo claimed the goal was for his former supporters.

“The fans were brilliant to me and gave me a fantastic cheer when my name was read out. I was thrilled to score in front of them and that goal was for them really.” “It was really great to be back. I really enjoyed my time here and still have a lot of affection for the club”

The Mirror is claiming that Kaka will be out of the Champions League clash with us. Gattusu is already ruled out from playing us (apparently) And young prodigy Pato is doubtful so having the current world player of the year ruled out can only be a bonus but I am skeptical of any injury talk until the match because we know how managers like to use mind games to try and disrupt the opposition.

And to end with some good news, Alex Hleb’s agent has responded to speculation linking his client to Barcelona.

“I can understand why Barcelona would be interested in Alex,” the 26-year-old’s agent Niki Spilevski told The Sun.

“But Alex loves life at Arsenal. He feels he is at the best club in the world.

“He has the ideal manager, he loves his team-mates and loves London. Why would he want to leave?”

Now that is what you want to hear. I think this collection of players will be different to most because they have all grown together. It really is like a family at our club. Is there a player that you could see wanting out in the future? If I had to guess then I would say Adebayor. I don’t know why, but out of anyone it could be him.

Oh yeah, I said end with good news didn’t I? Adebayor looks like he is one of the best strikers in the world right now, a little bit of Drogba second season syndrome. Manchester United and Chelsea do not have a striker in that form. Ronaldo is a wide player who will not score every game for the rest of the season. There you go, ending on a good note.

Until tomorrow.
