Gilberto could well be drafted back into the team playing alongside Gallas in defence. As much as that does not make me feel very comfortable
In yesterdays post I was making fun out of Blackburn’s injury crisis only to find out that we have a list that can match the very worst.
Our situation is now so bad that Arsene will be on the blower to the Ivory Coast in an attempt to have Kolo Toure sent back early from National team duty. I cannot see it happening to be honest as not only has he travelled half way around the world but he has just returned back from injury. Arsene would not risk him but at the same time he would like Toure back in England around our medical staff and resting instead of playing in a needless third and forth play off game.
Van Persie, Djourou and Rosicky are all definitely out. Senderos, Flamini, Diaby and Almunia are all doubts with Toure and Eboue both away on International duty.
Gilberto could well be drafted back into the team playing alongside Gallas in defence. As much as that does not make me feel very comfortable, I suppose I would rather him playing whilst we are at home against a team who are likely to play defensive football.
Gilberto seems to be speaking out quite alot these days about his future.
“To this day I’m waiting for an explanation as to this change,” said Gilberto in The Sun regarding his new status. “The truth is I found out about it in the newspapers.
“I thought I had a good season last year and I saw no reason for what has happened. If I continue not to play, then leaving Arsenal is inevitable.
I love Gilberto, and I feel very sorry for him because he probably does not deserve what has happened to him. But I don’t like all this blabbing to the press. Its not very erm… Arsenal.
It is fairly obvious that he will be leaving in the summer it doesn’t really need to be advertised all over the shop
Gilberto will leave and Arsene will sign a replacement
Arsene knows that he cannot go into next season with Flamini and Song as the only defensive midfield players. Arsene will sign someone to compete with Alex Song. Denilson, Diaby, Merida, Landsbury are not defensive players and as we can see, we need a big squad to remain in 4 competitions.
Arsene will have a shortlist of players who he likes and depending on outgoings will depend on who comes in to replace them.
Good luck to Manchester City and Liverpool tomorrow. Another weekend like last weekend wouldn’t be too bad now would it?
Until tomorrow.
