Goodbye Kolo *sniff*, Ian Wrong Wrong Wrong, No need for transfer fears

Paul Merson could say that he has inside information that Mikki Bikeggi from planet Mars is set to be the first Alien to sign for a Premier League club and it will be all over the press like a rash

I want to start by wishing all the best to Kolo Toure, from the moment he arrived at the club he gave 100% his driving runs from center back got everyone off their seats. Right wing, left wing, central midfield, left back, flying right back and of course central defence. A versatile powerful winner who always wore his heart on his sleeve.

So where does this leave us? Kolo hasn’t been at his very best for 18 months now, but at the same time he knew the Premier League, grew into the Arsenal way of playing. Vermaelen has to start again from scratch. But having said all that, the same could have been said of Bacary Sagna who slotted in without any sign of a adaption period.

Ok, let me start on the news that is going around this afternoon. Patrick Vieira apparently heading back to Arsenal. I was listening to talksport when Ian Wright made the comment about hearing things about a return or something like that and I cannot believe that an ex player can say pretty much anything and it be all over the national press. Ian Wright doesn’t know anything at all about what Arsene Wenger is thinking or about what players he wants to bring in. I will say this now, if Patrick Vieira comes back to Arsenal as a player this summer then I will film me eating my own hat and post it on this site.

Paul Merson could say that he has inside information that Mikki Bikeggi from planet Mars is set to be the first Alien to sign for a Premier League club and it will be all over the press like a rash. Then Chelsea and Spurs would be preparing bids.

I enjoyed the first half of the game yesterday. Our football is slowly clicking, we are starting to see more and more combinations. Cesc Fabregas looked bright in his return. His passing is still as decisive as ever.

Arsene Wenger explained the difference between the two halves.

Wenger said:

“It was an interesting game with for me two different halves, In the first half we showed good movement and cohesion. We showed good technical skill and always seemed to be in control.

“In the second half it was different. We were not mobile and we had heavy legs. We were not mobile because we had worked very hard during the camp. We had to hang on a little bit. It was a good challenge from Hannover and it was a good physical game for us.”

I think Cesc going off after half time hurt the team also. We didn’t hold onto the ball as well after he left the pitch. The change of formation increases our options as many players can play in both midfield or attacking roles.

Wenger believes that our squad is strong, Wenger said:

“The position of the squad is very good, If you look at the players who did not play today there was Clichy, Rosicky and Diaby. Walcott and Gibbs have not played yet [in pre-season]. I believe the squad is strong.”

I also think the squad is strong, strong in quality for sure but I do think we need to add numbers. If Eboue does leave then we do not have a replacement right back apart from Johan Djourou who naturally is a central player. Wenger will know this and I am sure he will do something about it.

Emmanuel Eboue waved goodbye after the Hannover game, threw his shirt into the crowd and gave away his boots. If he was the only player doing this then that would indicate that his move to Fiorentina could well be on the cards.

We shall have to wait and see what happens with that.

We haven’t seen Tomas Rosicky since the first pre season game against Barnet, we are now being told that it was down to a minor injury that he picked up.

Rosicky said:

I have a feeling that I am finally getting back to my usual standard of football, During the injury struggle I began preparing many times but it took a long time to get this far. I am fit, which is the most important thing now.”

“I thought that I would spend more time on the pitch (against Barnet) and then the two matches that followed I had to watch from the stands. I wasn’t angry with the decision – just glad I could walk again.”

I must say this frightens me somewhat. One comeback game and he suffers, I suppose it was to be expected but you live in hope. I set my hopes now to a return to the Emirates cup and then no more problems after that. With Nasri out for at least 6 weeks it is vital that we keep our midfielders free from injuries.

There is alot of panicking going on from Arsenal fans about lack of signings but it is far too early to be losing any sleep about players coming in. We usually do our work late in the window and I expect it to be the same this time round.

Rightyo, I’m off, back tomorrow.
