Matthieu Flamini was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch against Newcastle, he was the holding player, the driving force, the creative influence and a goalscoring threat.

Match Review – Arsenal 3 Newcastle United 0 – Premier League
Before the season started alot of Arsenal supporters and the media would have said that Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie would be the key to our season. As the season began Cesc and Van Persie started to show that they had enough class to win matches by themselves. Cesc Fabregas added goals to his game and his passing and vision was fantastic. He kept the team ticking, kept the ball moving and created chances for others.
Robin Van Persie was given the task of taking over from all time record goalscorer Thierry Henry as the main Arsenal frontman. Van Persie spent large periods of last season on the injury table. After a slow start Van Persie started showing his potential and scored important goals, his understanding with Adebayor was developing and was looking on course to score 20+ goals.
Injury has cursed Robin Van Persie once again and Cesc Fabregas has had a dip in form since picking up an injury.
Newcastle United at home was an important match for Arsenal as all league matches are this season. We have not been playing at our creative attacking best for a number of games now and when that happens you need to grind your way through matches. Mathieu Flamini and Emmanuel Adebayor have been two players who have picked up the mantle and have drove the team forward.
Emmanuel Adebayor has been the form player in the premier league over the last few months, he is in great goalscoring form and has the power to upset every defender in world football. His workrate is incredible, he must have one of the highest fitness levels in the squad. Adebayor is starting to put all his strengths together and add two vital ingredients, self confidence and self belief.
Matthieu Flamini was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch against Newcastle, he was the holding player, the driving force, the creative influence and a goalscoring threat.
Flamini made a couple drives down the right and crosses which couldn’t be converted before his wonderful look up and float to the back post where an inform Adebayor headed in from close range.
Technically Flamini’s improvement has been sensational, he is spreading passes around like he Cesc and is winning tackles like Roy Keane.
It was Flamini who scored Arsenal’s second goal and what a goal it was. It certainly is his best goal for Arsenal and probably of his career so far. Cesc played a square pass to the Frenchman who took a touch and let fly from 30 yards out. His shot flew into the top corner of the net and the quality of the goal was suitable for the type of performance.
Diaby had a very good game and is keeping things simple now which makes him a far more effective player. We all know that he has the talent and if he is given the chance then he will show what he can do.
Bendtner came on for Eduardo who wasn’t at his very best but to be honest he is allowed a quiet game as he has been in great form in the last few weeks. It took Bendtner 9 minutes to make a contribution to the match. He brought down a long pass on his chest and laid the ball into Fabregas’ path. The Spaniard finished well on his left foot.
Nicky Butt hit the bar with a freekick late on but it would have been a little too late anyway.
I fancy the hard work and grit to go to Manchester City and pick up another three points.
