Have Arsenal contacted Lyon for Ben Arfa?

It appears that Arsenal have contacted Lyon if he has spoken about our club. I don’t know if he has spoken to Wenger yet but one thing that makes me a little uneasy is the “If I stay at Lyon, it is to play”

So that is it, the curtain comes down on yet another season. We ended it with a victory. It was a pretty dull game in all honesty. I listened to it on Arsenal audio and the commentators spent most of the time talking amongst themselves or trying to promote some crappy competition.

The bright light from the game has to be in emergence of Theo Walcott. His goal was fantastic. The way he spun and flew past the defenders onto Gilberto’s pass was electric and his finish was cool and calm. We know he is a finisher, everyone knows he cannot be caught but what I like about him now is his all round game. It continues to be consistent. I suppose getting a run in the side has helped that.

It appears that Arsene agrees with me.

“I think he started as a promising young player and he finished it as a guy who can fight for a regular place in the side,” said Wenger after the win at the Stadium of Light.

“The next step for him is to be a player who can produce regular performances and efficiency. I am very hopeful he can be that.

“Sometimes he can be too much ‘in and out’ of the game still but we have seen when he is in, he is completely in now.”

We could well go from having no wide cover to having Walcott, Rosicky, Hleb (Probably a replacement), Vela. Eboue, Traore and the other youngsters such as Randall who I like alot.

Speaking of wingers, Ben Arfa has spoken about his link to the club.

“I do not pay attention to this,” he told L’Equipe. “If I had to pay attention to everything that is in the papers…

“That is true that we have spoken about Arsenal, but we will see how it is going to happen.

“If I stay at Lyon, it is to play. Wherever I go, it will be to play.

“The season is not over yet, two games are remaining (one in Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France final).

“Today I am at Lyon. We will see what tomorrow is made of.

“It is frustrating when I am on the bench but it is part of the job.”

I cannot imagine that Arsene would buy a young French player and throw him straight into the starting line up. Pires, Henry, Bergkamp. Reyes, Hleb, Eduardo all took time to settle into Premier League football. It would be very likely that Ben Arfa would have to be patient. It sounds a little like the Diarra situation at Chelsea.

As the season is over Arsene has more time to go shopping, and no I don’t mean Tesco’s or Dorothy Perkins.

I have pretty much nothing else to talk about right now, so have a good day and drop your view in the comments.

Until tomorrow.
