I now fully understand the compliments and the lack of goals. He is such a team player who works for everyone else almost at the expense of himself. I am sure his goal average will increase
Good afternoon,
My action plan today is to stay well clear of the goalkeeping debate that is taking place in the Arsenal world today. I had my say on that yesterday evening which you can read here if you so wish.
I have read plenty of we want Wenger out because he didn’t buy a keeper or I will not be watching Arsenal anymore until we get a new keeper which to me is ludicrous and says more about that ‘supporter’ than anything else. I watch our team because I support the players who play for us. Football has turned into such a weird game nowadays, it used to be so bloody simple.
Anyway, let me move on from that. Each to their own and all that sort of thing.
The transfer window is closed until January but as I understand it we are still able to send out some of the youngsters on loan. You would imagine that one of the four keepers we have will be sent on loan. One of Mannone or Chesney will be sent elsewhere to gain experience. I would love Chesney to stay and get Carling cup games but I think that will be handed to our number two keeper, so perhaps it is a year too soon for the highly rated Polish stopper.
The final squads will be released by 5pm this afternoon. I imagine that the likes of Jay Emmanuel-Thomas will be included when perhaps normally he would have been farmed out on loan to gain extra experience and first team football.
He may well be needed on the bench in the short term as injuries have already taken both Robin Van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner hostage, at least for the short term. Both players should be fit and available at roughly the same time unless of course they break down again, but hey, lets think positively, we can only hope.
The extra burden will fall at the feet of Chamakh for the time being, which in some ways is a good thing. It will sharpen him up quicker and on current form he deserves to be playing football. He has played a part in probably over 70% of our goals thus far and hopefully Bolton at home is a good opportunity to grab a goal and continue his confidence building.
After reading all about him whilst at Bordeaux, I now fully understand the compliments and the lack of goals. He is such a team player who works for everyone else almost at the expense of himself. I am sure his goal average will increase with the likes of Cesc, Rosicky, Arshavin etc around him.
Theo Walcott has had a sparkling start to the season, I am very proud of him for his improvements but I would love to see him keep his head down and continue his progress. He has been speaking to the media quite a lot in recent weeks. Obviously his role as a professional footballer is not only on the pitch, he has to give interviews as part of his profession. I just hope he keeps his head on his shoulders, keeps his feet on the ground, remains level headed and all the rest of the cliches you can throw at it.
When Wenger speaks of Theo, he always talks about how grounded he is, so perhaps none of this will phase him in the slightest. Hopefully he brings his form into the England set up and sparkles as he did in his 45 minute cameo against… erm, can’t remember and not sure that I can be bothered to even go and check it up. Who says that I couldn’t be a professional journalist. Apart from my rather poor grammar, but anyway I digress.
We have been left with another round of pointless internationals to enjoy and err, I shall be rather not enjoying them. Arsenal are going through a good period at the moment and I would hate for our flow to be broken up, luckily our next game will be at the Emirates so that is always a good place to restart the engines, so to speak.
I shall be hunting around for bits and pieces of Arsenal news to write about tomorrow.
Until then..
