Hleb Blast?.. Am I missing something?

For someone who has obviously wanted out of the club, I think his behaviour has been better than most. Obviously going to meet up with Inter Milan when you are a registered Arsenal player is not what you want to hear from your players

Some more ‘slam’ rumours from the shit stirrers aka the English press.

Is it me or is it just unbelievably obvious that they will do anything to put our club in a bad light. Surely the Ronaldo wants out to Real Madrid is the biggest transfer news this summer, probably in world football. Where are the miss quotes from him against Alex Ferguson? Lampard wants to join Jose in Italy apparently. Why not make him look like he is slamming Chelsea?

Hleb’s new Gunners blast:

was the headline from The Sun this morning. Oh no, don’t burn your bridges I thought before I read the article.

Hleb said:

“My view of how I should be playing didn’t coincide with the manager’s.

“I told him last season I wanted to leave and think he was quite upset about it.

“But ask him. It may turn out he’s happy to see me go.

“I don’t know where I’ll be next season but I’d prefer Barcelona.

“It is being negotiated and, hopefully, will be decided soon.”

Can someone please point out this blast? or even the slam? show me the attack?

For someone who has obviously wanted out of the club, I think his behaviour has been better than most. Obviously going to meet up with Inter Milan when you are a registered Arsenal player is not what you want to hear from your players but we would be naive to think that this doesn’t happen. Especially as he told Arsene that he wanted to leave last season.

So he wasn’t happy about his role in the team, there is nothing wrong with that. In Germany he was the link player the position where everything went through him. Perhaps he saw himself in the position that Cesc takes up. Arsene has moved him into a wide position with a licence to roam and perhaps this doesn’t not suit him. Ask Steven Gerard of Liverpool if he is always played in his favoured position. Closer to home, as Alex Song and Johan Djourou where their best position are.

I am however interested to know what he means by “But ask him. It may turn out he’s happy to see me go” my first thought was that he knew something about Wenger’s plans. But then I guess how would he know what Arsene is likely to do.

The worst was saved until last. The Sun said:

The midfielder knows he will not get a warm welcome from his team-mates at pre- season training this week, especially after his pop at Fabregas.

He said: “When we get scoring opportunities, Fabregas is much more selfish than me.

“Given a chance to shoot, he always goes for it — unlike me.”

Any Arsenal fan will know that Hleb has said many times that he needs to become more selfish and that it is not natural for him because he wasn’t coached to shoot, he was always told to look for the pass.

I would like to read the full transcript though. I’m sure just those quotes about Cesc were not the only thing that came out of his mouth. What was the question about comparing Cesc and himself? What position does he see as his best position? Fans like me are interested in reading proper articles with facts and not stupid journalists attempting to stretch the truth. Unfortunately we are going to see other sites and blogs eat up the same shit from the press. I have to admit I have been sucked in a few times in the past, believing what I read as truth but the more I read the more I realise that you cannot take anything that The Sun, The Mirror, The Daily Mail, The Star as face value.

It will be interesting to see how much we eventually get for Hleb, I really do believe that the Arshavin is linked to it. Arsene never goes for star players or big names etc but every time I think about it I cannot help but think that he is such an Arsene Wenger player. Hleb and Arshavin are the same age but would Wenger spend more to get him when he usually sells and spends less on a replacement.

Apparently Barcelona are now out of the running.

“Barcelona had failed to improve their original offer of €15 million (£12 million), thus we decided to end our negotiations with the Spanish club,” read a club statement.

“We have not received any offers for Arshavin from any other clubs, therefore there are no discussions going on about his transfer.”

So much for the dream move Andrei. Although I could see Barca coming back in if another club showed more interest. Anyway all I am doing is speculating. The wheels will begin motion when Hleb finally seals his deal to probably Barca.

Have a good day. Drop your view in the comments.

Until tomorrow.

Guess the match

  • Sagna plays the ball forward down the line to Hleb
  • Hleb cuts inside a defender a plays a left footed pass to Cesc who is in a central position
  • Cesc knocks it first time to Eboue who is ahead of him
  • Eboue plays it back to Hleb who is running down the right
  • Hleb plays it back infield to Cesc who spins past a defender and switches it across to his left where Adebayor is standing
  • Adebayor’s first touch takes him on goal but the keeper comes out and blocks his left footed shot
