So what kind of impact is this going to have on our squad? That is my issue. What will be going through the mind of Cesc Fabregas at this moment in time
I woke up this morning to read quotes from Alex Hleb’s agent Nikolai Shpilevsky.
“Alexander is preparing to make the most serious and important moves of his life,” Hleb’s agent Nikolai Shpilevsky was quoted in Belarusian newspaper Pressball on Friday.
“He is leaving Arsenal even though they want to offer him a new long-term contract and better conditions. Only time will tell if leaving is the right decision, but there’s no way back now. Everything will be cleared up in the next two weeks.”
I am absolutely furious with this statement. Arsene Wenger has shown such patience and faith with Alex Hleb who struggled to get used to English football but Arsene stuck with him and told him to keep playing his game. This year he has been very consistent. Anyone who says we don’t need him because he doesn’t score goals and his assists are not that good are talking rubbish (in my humble opinion of course) Hleb has been instrumental to the way we play this season and is one the main reasons as to why we retain possession so well. His relationship with Cesc and Rosicky on the pitch is there for all to see.
I honestly thought that his agent was just angling for a better contract and I wasn’t overly worried about him leaving the club but it is looking increasing likely that he will piss off to Inter Milan.
What I find insulting more than anything else is that it was only a few months ago when the player and his agent said that he was very happy at the club and could not see a reason as to why he would want to leave an environment that is so good for players who want to play good football. What has changed?
I watched the Wenger’s view on Arsenal TV where he talked to the shareholders about many different subjects and it was very interesting. I always love listening to Arsene Wenger. His manner and ability to turn everything into a positive is amazing. He spoke about how he wanted to keep Alex Hleb but I think he already knows that he is going to lose him. That is probably the reason as to why he wants another creative player.
So what kind of impact is this going to have on our squad? That is my issue. What will be going through the mind of Cesc Fabregas at this moment in time. He has to witness two of his friends and midfield partners leave the club for more money. Why would he feel differently to the other two? I think Arsene will give him the captaincy to try and tie him down to the club for longer. Just as he did with Vieira and then Henry after him.
At least Bendtner has shown some commitment to the team. Bayern were rumoured to be interested in signing him.
“I have heard about these offers from Germany but Nicklas will stay at Arsenal,” Bendtner’s father Thomas revealed in The Guardian.
“The only way things could be different was if something unexpected should happen, such as him being moved totally outside of the team, but it is difficult to see that happening as he is playing right now.”
It is so annoying that we have to fight every season to keep our players. I am still very angry about the whole thing. Infact I would be happy if Arsene just put his foot down and told him he is not for sale even if it could be biting off his nose to spite his face. Players treat our club like a drop in center where they can boost their careers and move on, quite frankly it’s just not on.
It appears that Arsenal are trying to bring in Karen Brady to replace Keith Edelman but there could well be a hitch due to the police investigation that Birmingham are under due to corruption. We shall wait and see.

Until tomorrow.
