Hull City (a) “Coquelin played the perfect game, he ticked and kicked!” – Q&A

While I was disappointed at xhaka not starting, I was absolutely annoyed at this Alexis striker bit. If Perez isn’t fit to start, I’d rather the guy who has been calling himself a striker be played up top and Alexis out wide instead of vice versa. Alexis drops to midfield way too much often leaving the striker role vacant. As for midfield, I’m a fan of coq/cazorla partnership but will really like to see xhaka get more game time. So I would have put Alexis wide left, theo Center and iwobi right. Perhaps rested santi and brought in xhaka.

Arsenal turned on the style yesterday against newly promoted Hull City at the KCOM stadium. A brace for Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and a late Granit Xhaka screamer gave Arsenal a 4-1 victory and a jump into third in the table. As usual a few kind folk from Twitter volunteered to take part in a post match Q&A of the game. If this is something you’d be interested in doing then give me a shout before or during any game via the contact page or on Twitter and I will send some questions your way.
1) What did you make of the starting line up? With the benefit of hindsight, would you have made any changes to that side?
@leouzzi – The gaffer went for consistent and stable. I noticed we had pace upfront with players who would interchange positions as the game progressed. My only worry before the game was the need to give Gibbs a run, given how he has not been at his best start. The gaffer picked his team and I support every player on there in the Red & White. We never know all that goes on to finally get to decided which player starts a game.
2) Did you see any noticeable differences between this performance and the midweek showing at PSG?
@leouzzi – We came out of the block quick and with purpose. I think we had a plan to be tight as a unit from the back and pressed high up but in really goo shape.
@wpggooner – We were more fluid in attack. Most notable difference was Coquelin almost making it a point to prove he can be involved offensively, create, distribute in addition to his defensive duties. Seemed he had a point to prove. As a whole, defence still suspect as sh*t, getting caught by the long ball way too often.
4) Which Arsenal player(s) were not at their best and why?
Chelsea
Subs- Walcott/coq/elneny/Ramsay/
@wpggooner – “Well damn. F**k .Me.”
9) Any other thoughts?
@leouzzi – We played well today, we do need to be more efficient in front of goal. Our fan-base is getting to look a joke with the constant moaning about everything. We need to start giving all the support possible to the team. By the way, our away support is the best i have seen for a long time. We are THE ARSENAL… We Move….
@wpggooner – Ozil has been out of sorts in the past 3 games. Maybe it’s a hangover from euro’s or the general fuc*ery that seems to be our setup and no one knowing their roles. Either way that needs to be sorted out quickly. And that defence- still vulnerable as ever. We will get punished by Chelsea if we keep on like this.
