Now I am hearing that the Premier League are in talks about having extra matches being played around the world. What?!
Good afternoon fellow Gooners,
It is a much better afternoon than it was morning that’s for sure. I went out with a mate for a drink last night and I drank far too much for a Thursday evening.
We had a very interesting conversation about football, politics and society and it wasn’t separate conversations. Rob who was in AV Chat 1 used to be a massive Arsenal fan as I am. We used to watch most matches together and he was always someone who I could call up and have a good ol Arsenal chat. Now he has no interest in football whatsoever. His reasons were basically about the players in general are cheats and do not give a damn about the clubs and fans that they play for. He went on to talk about Sky television and the control they have over football and supporters. He was saying that football reflects what life is like in London nowadays. Young adults and teenagers having very little respect and intelligence, so much so that he is leaving to move to the country.
That was just a snippet of the conversation and I have to say that he made alot of valid points, not that I could or want to ever turn my back on Arsenal football club.
I think I will do another AV Chat soon and get him on to air his views.
Now I am hearing that the Premier League are in talks about having extra matches being played around the world. What?! extra matches played around the world! you have got to be kidding me. I have not read any other supporters views on this matter as yet so if you don’t agree with me then fair enough but I think it is a load of bullshit (please pardon my french, even though my french is shit) I have heard that it could be a random generated fixture which means someone could have an extra match against Manchester United or something. How on earth does that make any sense?
Yes of course it will be a money spinner and clubs including our own will benefit from the extra revenue but that does not make it right does it? I could hang around outside kings cross late at night and try my luck at making some extra revenue but as I said, it would be FAR FAR from being right.
I cannot believe that football is turning into this. How far are people going to go to make extra money? What will football be like in the year 2020? Matches being stopped after 15 minutes for a time out to allow advertising? Adverts being played over the speakers during games? English matches should be played in England, Spanish matches should be played in Spain, The Italians should play in guess where? Italy. End of, it really should be simple.
Everyone is going to go along with it because people do and times change and there is nothing we can do about it but in my opinion, it stinks, stinks worse than my farts after a late night kebab…. and that is bad!
Anyway back to current football issues. Kolo Toure was back playing for his country in the semi finals and they got thrashed 4-1 which made me happy until I realised that he has to stay and play a pointless 3rd and 4th play off. *tutting and shaking of the head*
Alex Song has been one of the players of the tournament which is fantastic for the lad especially as he wasn’t even supposed to be going in the first place. His side beat Ghana 1-0 to get to the final against Egypt after playing alot of the game with 10 men, one of the Cameroon players pushed over a medic! haha, football gets more and more crazy by the year.
A funny rumour is doing the rounds at the moment, King Kevin Keegan is being linked with former Arsenal hero Thierry Henry.
“I would like to fetch Thierry Henry back to England,” Keegan said. “He’s the best player I’ve seen in the Premiership. When you’re pitch-side, what I’ve seen him do to good players has been incredible.
“Sometimes you can take advantage of a situation and get what I call lucky.”
It is an interesting one. Thierry is not playing in his favoured role at Barca, he is currently stuck out on the left wing while Messi is playing through the middle. Yeah, I know. I don’t really get that one either. But to be honest, it looks like Frank Rijkaard will be off in the summer and will be replaced by someone else. So he may just wait and see. Thierry Henry has said that he misses English football but hey, it is no longer our business. It would feel strange to see him playing in England and not for Arsenal though.
There is however some good news ahead of the Monday clash with Blackburn which is being shown on Setanta Sports
Blackburn Rovers will be missing a whole host of players. Samba, Dunn and Pedersen are all suspended. Whilst Ooijer, Reid and Nelsen are all mash up for different reasons. Matt Derbyshire’s girlfriend is expecting twins so he may also be missing from the squad (good timing)
And to make a good situation even better Flamini is likely to be fit to play. More team news over the next few days.
Enjoy your Friday.
