Ah, now that explains it all. But hey, I have a great idea. An idea that will put a stop to all this awful mistranslation. All he has to do is shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, just like his ironic goal celebration
There is most certainly an end of season feel towards the Blackburn Rovers game coming up, both teams have very little to play for, if we are to assume that Arsenal will collect at least a point in our remaining games but having said this I am still very much looking forward to the game. We put in a very committed and solid defensive performance against City if not spectacular offensively, I want to know if the players will continue to fight for the ball in our next two games or if that was just a token gesture given the lacklustre show at Wigan the weekend previous.
Arsene Wenger had his weekly pre game press conference yesterday in which he described Arshavin as a bit short without a hint of a smile, perhaps I was the only one giggling to myself like a cheeky school boy after a classroom prank. What Wenger obviously meant was that Andrey Arshavin will not be fit enough to take part at Ewood park on Monday night. Talk of Arshavin did not end there, Arsene Wenger’s tone of voice changed when answering the question of feeling disappointment with Arshavin’s comments.
He went from pretty much telling his Russian attacker that his comments were not acceptable at Arsenal to then softening his words by reminding all of us that players away from England have their words misinterpreted.
Judging by Arsene’s initial reaction I have to assume that Arshavin did publicly suggest that he would love to play for Barcelona. Well I would love to have a Ferrari but I cannot afford one whilst at the same time Arshavin cannot play for Barcelona because he doesn’t show the required desire.
I do not want to continue going on about him in a negative light, I wouldn’t want to be seen as an Arshavin basher but for me he hasn’t done enough this season. A player who has such a high standing in the game hasn’t given enough to the cause overall. I appreciate that he has had to play in an unfamiliar position for a section of the season and that he played through the pain barrier at times but overall as an experienced member of the Arsenal squad I haven’t seen enough, especially away from the ball.
Arshavin has come out and explained that he is “often translated wrongly” when speaking to the Russian press.
Arshavin said:
“I am often translated wrongly, If I talk to the English press, there is no problem, but when I say something in Russia, some special news agency takes it, translates it and sells these quotes.
“During the process of interpretation they translate my words as they see fit. I find this unpleasant. People might think I said something that, I fact, I never said. I respect the club and I am happy that I am a part of it. I am very grateful to the Arsenal fans, who love me.”
Ah, now that explains it all. But hey, I have a great idea. An idea that will put a stop to all this awful mistranslation. All he has to do is shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, just like his ironic goal celebration.
I was surprised to hear Arsene suggest that he would sit down with Eduardo to talk about his future. Eduardo must be disappointed with the lack of chances in recent months, but as Arsene said next season with a pre season behind him and time without injuries might see the hitman get back to his best form. I miss that guy who seemed to slow down time in the penalty area and finish everything that came his way.
I am not sure that our current change of formation suits his game. He is not really a left sided player and he is not really a lone front man, I am sure that if we had played two forwards this season then we would have seen better from him. Let us wait and see what happens.
Back again tomorrow.
