So should Suarez sign for us then I will see it as a loan of sorts. A chance for a good player to play at a higher level (I bet that stings Liverpool fans) and under a better manager. He would give us a chance to compete for silverware as well as allowing young talents like Yaya Sanogo to mature, then
After enjoying a game of football last night, I sat on the train on the way home and used my favourite time killer, Twitter on my phone only to see my time line clogged up with Luis Suarez talk. The Liverpool striker (for now at least) had his very own ‘hey you guys’ moment by talking to the Guardian about his current situation. Letting the world know that Liverpool had gone against their word and that they had not been sticking to the terms of his contract.
I didn’t state that he didn’t agree with the clubs direction though, that is for another level of snake I’d imagine. Yup, still bitter about it.
It is interesting reading through the Liverpool comments though, it feels eerily similar to past experiences. I should feel a bit of sympathy for the Liverpool fans and club but I don’t. Feel rather numb about the whole thing if I am to be completely honest.
Excellent player, a game changing player. In fact the perfect type of player for us but I remain uncomfortable with the whole thing. I am precious or any such nonsense. I’ve been frowned upon more than once for not feeling comfortable with the whole thing. This is just personal preference.
Luis Suarez is a player who has now forced or has tried (in this case) to force his way out of every club he has played at professionally. I am under no illusions that should he wear the red and white, that he would do this again. We are, after all his second and only option at present or so it seems (Tottenham don’t count)
He wants to join Real Madrid, that seems obvious but it remains to be seen if they turn to him or not. His reputation will not help in drumming up interest that’s for sure. Neither is his huge price tag. The powder that has been kept dry over the last few seasons from player departures may well be made wet alongside the new commercial deals in place.
My feeling for Luis Suarez to Arsenal should in theory make it easier emotionally for a future departure which is surreal considering that he is currently a Liverpool player and there is plenty to do before a decision on his future has been made you would imagine. He has fought his way out of every professional club he has been at so I see no reason to see why this wouldn’t come up at Arsenal somewhere down the road.

I am probably looking at this wrongly and also prematurely but I don’t care too much because I can cope with it much easier this way. Don’t get involved, make it strictly about pleasure and don’t stay over night and all should end well. I spent years sending flowers to RVP on his sick bed before he left. Nasri had spoken about our future together before jumping into bed with that blue rich guy from Manchester. I’m not getting involved with this one.
In other news, Gervinho has completed his switch to Roma. It is quite amazing how quickly he has come and gone. He should be at the stage where he is hitting his career best form for Arsenal but instead we had a player who seemed very short of confidence. Gervinho was the best dribbler we had and during games where teams parked the bus, he was the player I always wanted the ball to go to because he would turn at his full back and run at him, usually past him. Ok after continuously giving the ball away I would want the ball to go to someone else but you know what I mean. It is amazing how someone so gifted can be so short of composure.
I thought he would improve in that area, once he found confidence in himself, he had everything else to have been a good striker. I was wrong, well at least at Arsenal. I liked Gervinho, frustration aside of course but he was a good guy who just couldn’t make the grade at the mighty Arsenal. It happens, this is football. Perhaps Serie A would suit him more, I hope so. Good luck Gervy boy.
Not much else going on really. Liverpool say Suarez isn’t for sale and Arsenal say the pursuit is on standby, as I said yesterday we will understand more after the qualifier I reckon.
The pre season rumbles on.
’till the next time.
