Injuries / Rosicky / Rotation

At least we have Robin Van Persie and Eduardo on their way back into the squad after groin injuries. Speaking of groin injuries Tomas Rosicky will not be playing in a reserve match tonight due another groin injury

Hello again, apologies for my recent absence of late, my laptop has been misbehaving itself in the last few days. I was writing the match review yesterday and I got the dreaded blue screen, so I lost everything that I wrote. I started writing again and guess what? Yep the blue screen again. I was so close to flinging my laptop on the floor but luckily I fought against my instincts. You can read it

Even worse than the dreaded blue screen are bloody injuries and unfortunately for our squad we have to deal with them once again as the club confirm that William Gallas will be ruled out for the rest of the season. Manuel Almunia is out for roughly 3 weeks with an ankle problem that he has been suffering from in recent months. Gael Clichy is also on the treatment table for a back problem that he has picked up.

Johan Djourou, Fabianski and either Gibbs or Silvestre will have to come in and fight for the cause. I am concerned that another collection of injuries could stretch the squad too far, especially in defensive areas.

At least we have Robin Van Persie and Eduardo on their way back into the squad after groin injuries. Speaking of groin injuries Tomas Rosicky is not featuring tonight in our reserve match tonight against Spurs due another groin injury. Arsene better make sure there is no funny business going on with all these groin injuries. Jokes aside, it is a real disappointment that he is not playing, well it is to me because I have been very excited about watching him play once again. I was supposed to go to this game but other commitments have prevented me attending.

The youngsters are currently a goal down but they have been dominating, I would be surprised if we do not get an equaliser at least.

With Wigan coming up you can imagine the likes of Bendtner, Eboue, Arshavin and the groin boys will start to freshen things up. Arsene will want a strong side to play in midweek.

Interesting results last night with Liverpool getting put to the sword at Anfield. Rafa doesn’t concede goals at home in the Champions league, the master of controlling games was outdone by Hiddink. Michael Essien shut the door closed on Steven Gerrard the Liverpool engine. Stop the engine on a Porsche and it cannot drive. Torres didn’t get the service he usually gets from Gerrard.

We go to Liverpool soon in the league, would Arsene consider putting someone on Gerrard? Probably not, Wenger would prefer to concentrate on his own game instead of stopping others but you can imagine Gerrard being man marked much more from now on.

Forget the one foot in the next round from Barcelona, they are sitting in the second round waiting room after ripping Bayern Munich 4-0 in the Camp Nou. Messi was on fire once again and in my eyes is the best player in the world at the moment. I suppose that could well be obvious to many.

At half time the semi finals are swaying towards Porto vs Arsenal and Barcelona vs Chelsea, but as I say that is only at half time, those advantages could easily be wiped out in both second legs. We will have to give our all to overcome a very talented Villarreal side at home, especially with them knowing that they have to come at us.

Arsene Wenger commented on the second legs not being decided as yet.

Wenger said:

“I don’t know [about the Semi-Finals]. I believe that these two ties, Arsenal Villarreal and Man United Porto, are still undecided,” he said.

“On the other side it’s a bit different. Barcelona look to be through completely and Chelsea are in a strong position. But that one still isn’t decided because Liverpool can respond and be strong away from home.”

That first goal at the Emirates will be bloody important, lets hope it goes to us. If we can score early and get on top of the possession then we can control the game but we mustn’t start on the backfoot like we did in Spain.

Before that we have another important Premier League fixture away to Wigan. Many fans seem to think that 4th is now wrapped up, I would rather see how we get on against Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United in the league before I can breathe easy about 4th.

Back tomorrow.
