Injuries, the Champions League & Gallas

This William Gallas ‘injury’ is a little worrying. I don’t wish to jump to conclusions but the fact that he hasn’t signed a new contract and the Roma talk continues to do the rounds

A very good afternoon to you once again,

I sure hope you are all well today. I am very excited about our upcoming clash at Phillip Brown’s Hull City, I was feeling rather nervous about that game, much in the same way I was about Stoke but our performance has relaxed me a little more, I hope our players do not relax too much though.

We have had our issues with Hull City in recent years and I have a feeling that some more drama will take place on the weekend. Arsenal will be pumped for the game and I cannot imagine Brown not being able to manage his team without the give em a kick speech.

The latest injury news from Arsenal.com is that Sol Campbell, Bacary Sagna and Cesc Fabregas are all doubts for the game. After Eboue’s contribution from the bench and his recent form I wouldn’t be surprised if he started the game anyway and perhaps Arsene may feel that Sol cannot manage two games a week. We all sit here with crossed fingers.

If our attitude is right then I am fairly confident that we can take all three points home with us. They are struggling in the league but I was impressed with the type of game that they brought to Chelsea a few weeks ago. They were the better team in my opinion and even played the more adventurous football. Luckily for us, we do not have John Terry in our side so hopefully we can handle their attack better than the scum from West London managed.

Speaking of central defenders, the real deal Thomas Vermaelen believes we can win the Champions League, I suppose it kind of goes without saying doesn’t it? You do not expect our players to say anything else. You are hardly going to win anything by ruling out your chances for success.

The quarter final draw will be interesting. Manchester United have waltzed into the hat after a convincing performance over a poor looking AC Milan side. It was interesting watching Mathieu Flamini in action, it looks to be far away from the all action hero that plied his trade at Arsenal. Would you take him back over Alex Song? Hell to the no I say.

I watched turned over to the Real Madrid vs Lyon game after Rooney scored the first and it soon became clear that Milan were not going to get themselves in with any sort of chance in the tie.

The game in Madrid was very fun to watch, Real scored early. Ronaldo scoring once again. He really has some issues that he needs to address, I mean really, how can a player score so bloody consistently?

Real Madrid could only manage a draw which sends them out once more. It is quite amazing to think that a club of their size has not reached the quarter finals for the last five years or so.

Compare the money invested on players between Arsenal and Real Madrid and then their recent records in the worlds strongest competition and it is quite the contrast. Hopefully we will start getting our hands on the trophy a few times.

At this stage anyone left in the competition can win it, I admit, I would be worried with another draw against an English club not based on talent but on the psychological damage that our league defeats might have given the players. We need to beat one of them in a big game at some point though. I really would love to see an Arsenal v Barcelona clash at some point. Two of the best footballing teams in European football and before any of those clubs change I would like to see a rematch.

Cesc, Nasri and Arshavin vs Iniesta, Xavi and Messi. Mouthwatering stuff.

This William Gallas ‘injury’ is a little worrying. I don’t wish to jump to conclusions but the fact that he hasn’t signed a new contract and the Roma talk continues to do the rounds. I hope Gallas stays at the club, he has been superb this season but I can understand if he wants to see out his contract elsewhere but at this stage of the season I would kinda like him around.

Look I could well be jumping to conclusions and Gallas could be sitting at home with his calf wrapped up in cotton wool but we have been in this situation before when a player suffers an injury at the end of the season only never to return again.

On a brighter note, Eeeeemmanuel Eboue has declared his desire to stay at Arsenal which would be great. The guy has been wonderful in every aspect this season. What a fine squad member he is. He is great for the squad moral, he can play in a number of positions and he can beat players. What squad would not want him?

Right, it is my lunch time.

Back again tomorrow.
