Injuries *weep*, Karl Henry a future pundit? & Torres v Chamakh

He seems like a similar type of player as Torres, strong, quick good at leading the line, strong in the air but looking at his statistics and the handful of games that I have seen him play

I almost felt like scrapping this daily blog for a match thoughts article instead but that would leave me with a problem tomorrow morning. I have been reading the blogs and listening to the usual media outlets about the game tomorrow and I cannot help but feel excited and nervous in equal measure.

I must admit, I am worried about the players we have missing. We do not have squad players out injured, we have key first team players who make the difference. I could start saying it is a squad game blah blah but the truth of the matter is that not every player in your squad are equal, you cannot have 5 William Gallas’ in reserve just in case the first one has a dodgy calf strain. I think this seems to be missed by some, expect Arsene to buy a squad full of experienced internationals who do not mind playing only a handful of games over the course of a season.

Alex Song is the next player to have disappeared down the injury black hole with a groin problem. We cannot afford the injuries we already have so adding to that list now is just a disaster.

Luckily for us, Barcelona also have a few problems of their own to have to deal with, not as bad as ours needless to say but they will have to do some juggling of players before the two compete tomorrow.

More on that tomorrow morning I guess, make sure to have a read.

Jumped up little nobody Karl Henry is doing his best to make a name for himself by having a go at Arsenal and their players. A career at Sky Sports beckons for the scum bag after his career finishes.

Henry said:

“We love Arsenal’s great football but when they are rolling around getting people sent off, it makes you not want to see them do so well,”

“Thomas Vermaelen and whoever else came flying in, trying to get me sent off. Two minutes later, Rosicky’s up running around and absolutely fine. That’s what they do here, I don’t think it’s pretty.

“I certainly wouldn’t be running over, trying to get a player sent off. It’s part of the game, we realise that, we know that’s the game we are in, I think here in particular.

“Arsenal moan a lot, their players go down like a sack of spuds. They get hit hard like any other clubs do and we are hearing about it for weeks and weeks.”

For starters he shouldn’t have a name like Henry, pronounced differently or not, he needs to change it to Smith, Taylor or Shawcross. It would suit him much better. Secondly, Vermaelen came up to you and pushed you because you went in recklessly on our player who ended up with a cuts from your studs which still contained the skin of Theo Walcott from an earlier ‘challenge’ he wasn’t trying to get you sent off he was trying to tell you to act like a footballer and not a complete and utter knob.

Reading and listening to pundits, current and former players and then hearing that annoying ‘same old Arsenal always cheating’ chant from opposition fans it can be forgiven for us Gooners feeling that we are somewhat victimised and pushed into a little box for others to judge us, rather unfairly in my book.

I have been called paranoid for saying that I feel Arsenal are victimised. I would love to know why Tomas Rosicky’s marks on his calf was cleverly edited out of match of the day when I saw the shots live during the game. And then Henry’s follow through on Walcott was completely ignored as if it just didn’t happen. Then you have the likes of Alan Hansen claiming that Henry didn’t deserve to be sent off.

Now these quotes from the well ard Englishman, it paints the picture rather nicely that Arsenal are a bunch of winging whinging cheating scummy foreigners who don’t like it up em unlike the likes of Graham Le-Saux and all the well ard English Premier League super players.

I loved the comments from Fernando Torres about wanting Arsenal to win the league after all the good work from Arsene. I had respect for him before and now it has well and truly increased. I do not want to go all fantasy football with thoughts of the striker wanting a move after a lack of European football, we have missed the boat on that one. Arsene had many chances and was linked plenty of times with the young Atletico Madrid forward but for whatever reason he couldn’t or didn’t want to bring him to Arsenal.

He seems like the perfect striker to fit that middle forward in Arsene’s 4-3-3, quick, strong in the air and a clinical finisher. Arsenal would never part with the kind of money that would be required to take him away from debt ridden Liverpool.

It looks more and more likely that Mr Chamakh of Bordeaux is the likely candidate to join the strike force on a free next season. He seems like a similar type of player as Torres, strong, quick good at leading the line, strong in the air but looking at his statistics and the handful of games that I have seen him play, his finishing is light years away from the Liverpool number 9.

That is not everything of course, we have seen a player like Emmanuel Adebayor have a terrible strike rate whilst playing or Monaco then it improved drastically under Arsene’s tutelage. Thierry Henry was transformed as a player and goal scorer albeit a much younger player which would make a big difference. So lets not turn our nose up at the amount of goals Chamakh could score at Arsenal just yet. because we do not know until he settles in and has a run in the team which is another story altogether.

Will he have a role similar to Eduardo this season? Will he leap ahead of Nicklas Bendtner? What happens to all the front men when Robin Van Persie shakes off all the dried placenta and rocks back onto the pitch in his number 11 shirt?

I have many more questions than answers on that subject but those answers will come another time, we currently have far bigger fish to fry, starting from tomorrow.

Anyone fancy some battered Barca?

I never said my photoshop skills were very good

Back again tomorrow.

* Before I get some incensed comments, I was not saying that Chamakh is as good as Torres. Ok? Just wanted to make that clear. Just give him a few seasons with Arsene first 😉
