International week has caught me, Injuries & The Rosicky saga

I do not wish to add energy where thought goes but (he says adding it) whenever it appears that our injury list is clearing up and that we are a body or two away from a perfect bill of health, bang goes the injury virus

I was doing well, bloody well I might add. Keeping busy, taking my mind off things and was coping. This morning I was content, shuffling my feet down the street on my way to work. Music blaring in my ears from my headphones. Trying to make my dancing walk look as natural as possible to those around me until my mind leapt back to the game on the weekend, well it was a moment when Cesc Fabregas spotted Van Persie pealing off his marker and his floated chip landed inches over the defenders head and into Van Persie’s path. A truly amazing pass, the weight of pass, the execution. This warm feeling was soon replaced by annoyance. INTERNATIONAL WEEK slapped me in the face.

I did well to avoid thinking about it but now I am frustrated at the fact that we clicked into gear offensively in a big way and that has now been halted.Robin Van Persie’s form in front of goal has been postponed and even worse than all of that we risk our players being in the care of other management and players. One reckless challenge in training, one twist too many could see yet another ‘He will be out for 3-6 weeks’ quote from our manager.

I do not wish to add energy where thought goes but (he says adding it) whenever it appears that our injury list is clearing up and that we are a body or two away from a perfect bill of health, bang goes the injury virus, spreading like wildfire across our squad. I am crossing me fingers that everyone comes back fit and ready to continue where they left off on Sunday.

Can we go one better please and have some key injuries to our rivals squads. I mean how many times has Lampard come back with a long lay off after England matches? Or Rooney with knee problems? It just doesn’t happen and I would like to know why. It is like throwing a coin 15 times and it landing on the wrong side every call.

It is that part where I have to discuss Arsenal stories isn’t it? Well there isn’t anyfink iz der, initt?

Cesc Fabregas has spoken about his new role in the new formation in the new team in the new stadium in the new……

Cesc said;

“It is difficult to say which position I prefer but probably the one I’m playing now is where I feel most comfortable,”

“I’m still getting there, you know, to be at my best in that position. Because I think it’s different. When I started at Arsenal we were playing 4-4-2, I was one of those two in the middle so I could come very deep to get the ball and when I was young it was really good for me because I had more time from deep positions to link with other players, to move forward from deep.

“Now my position is higher up on the pitch, sometimes I don’t touch the ball as often as I used to, so I have to be patient. But I know I’m in this part of the pitch where I can do dangerous things in terms of giving the final ball, and I have more time to go to dangerous positions to score a goal as well. I feel more freedom in that position.”

Like many of our players, I do think that the new formation really helps Fabregas. Even on the first day of the season you could see the freedom that Cesc found against Everton. Last season before he was moved as a second striker. Cesc was very deep and had to do much of the defensive work. We did not get the chance to see him picking out passes on the edge of the opposition penalty area. I believed that Cesc could be massive this season after the Hanover 96 pre season friendly. He scored the only goal of the game and was very involved in our good play on the day. This has developed and improved and we witnessed that on Sunday.

Gavin Hoyte is on his way to Brighton on loan for a month. Well good luck to him with all that.

I haven’t yet spoken about the Rosicky contract or lack of contract stories, mainly because it is a load of old fart. Well I think it is a load of old fart.

This is how I see the situation. Wenger must have told Rosicky that he has to prove his fitness if he is to remain at Arsenal. We have stood by him since he hobbled off against Newcastle in 1986 or was it 1968. One of them anyway.

Wenger could have said, I want to play you in most games because you are one of our best players, but I will not take risks with you, so I will play you for 60-70 minutes at a time. If you can make it to x months without any reoccurrence of the injuries then we know everything is ok and the club will offer you a new contract.

Obviously that is my over active mind making up a situation but that is the situation I tend to believe rather than the media twisting words of our players. I do not see the club standing by Rosicky for so long only for the player to join another club.

So no matter what else happens in the Daily Mail or in an Sky Sports ‘understands’ article, I shall mentally discard it until I hear Arsene Wenger explaining the situation to us.

What gets me is the Rosicky should be sold crap from Arsenal fans for months and months and now it is Wenger should get his finger out and sign Rosicky on a 12 year contract. I just love how certain fans do not admit to the complete and utter tosh that they say when they are proved totally incorrect.

I will always try and admit to my mistakes when I give my opinion. Alex Song being a perfect example of that. I could not see him being good enough to make it at Arsenal and clearly I was wrong. I believed we were good enough to win the league last season and once again I was mistaken. Sorry those are the only mistakes that I can remember in my lifetime. Just kidding and all that of course.

Right, I cannot find anything on to waffle about so I shall cut my losses and vanish for another day.

I thought I may as well throw one in as it is I week. Shhhh, don’t say the full name.

Back again tomorrow.
