Nicklas Bendtner looks set to be patched up and thrown head first back onto the pitch for Denmark so he could well not be ready to play against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon

We are moving closer to the end of rubbish and the continuation of fun. But Tuesday afternoon is not the time to start counting chickens. There is yet another round of internationals to get through, some of these games will be more important than the games played on the weekend. We are already worrying about the fitness of two of our players especially probable Arsenal player of the year Robin Van Persie who looks likely to miss the Dutch game against Macedonia

He has been sent back to Arsenal to recover, so thank you very much Holland.

Do not be surprised if our squad suffer some more knocks from now until the weekend. One player who will not be plying his trade for his country is Cesc Fabregas as he is just recovering from his knee injury, however this does not stop him being in the news for other reasons.

We all know that he has been tapped up by Spanish teams in the last few years. It seems like Barca and Read Madrid take turns in running their own stories on our player. It was Real’s turn to attempt Cesc to turn his head.

Cesc has admitted to having contact from Real Madrid.

‘It’s true the president of Real Madrid called me personally – we spoke on the phone. But I never gave him my word that I was going to sign for Real Madrid. He asked about my progress and that was it. I have not given him nor anyone else the expectation that I will join them. The same goes for anyone who represents me.

‘I am a person of my word and I can assure you that I have never given any club reason to believe that I would leave Arsenal. Nobody can say that they have agreed with me that I become part of their project. That is clear.

‘I am a professional so I cannot close the door on anyone, On the one hand, you have your feelings and your passions and on the other you have your professionalism.’

Cesc Fabregas is Arsenal captain and hasn’t started an Arsenal season as skipper so expecting him to leave our club at this stage is rather unlikely. He is an intelligent young man, I am sure he has looked around training and watched the likes of Arshavin, Van Persie, Clichy, Nasri, Eduardo, Vela, Rosicky and Walcott and thought wow, we really have some talent at our club. He knows as well as many that when we get back to full strength or even close to that we will be a match for Barca and in my opinion head and shoulders above Real Madrid.

This isn’t to say that I do not expect him to return one day, probably closer than I would like but not now.

Tomas Rosicky should hopefully be back in the reserves against Tottenham on the 9th April at Underhill. I game getting a few of my Gooner buddies along and we are going to support the youngsters. I have been to a few reserve games but not for a while, so if you haven’t yet been to a reserve game then now would be a good time to go and support the team against the Spuds and to give Rosicky a great reception as he has been through footballing hell over the last year.

Oh, just to make matters even worse, there are rumours of Diaby being withdrawn from the French squad due to a hip injury. I am sure we will hear more soon.

Back tomorrow.
