A lot of bits and bobs floating around today which makes a pleasant change.

First of all Arsene Wenger has decided to give some information away that he is after a midfield player. On the weekend he did not want to announce which position he was looking at but a few days later he has let the cat out of the bag. Was there any progress from Saturday to Wednesday on any potential deal?

Everyone is speculating on which player(s) it is going to be. With Diarra, Flamini and Gilberto all leaving the club you would expect the midfield player to be a defensive minded player. Wenger also said that we were having trouble in defending long straight passes. Then Arsene said that he would be trying to buy a player from the premier league.

This may not all be fact, he may have changed his mind on some of those statements and some of that talk is open to interruption. But if we wanted to guess a player then looking for a tall, defensive midfielder who plays in the Premier League with experience would not be a bad place to start.

Kolo Toure is currently ill with malaria and is looking likely to miss the first few weeks of the season. Could this add pressure for Arsene to look at another center back? I personally think it would be a good thing it would just give Arsene some selection headaches that he may want to do without.

Thierry Henry has been talking about Arsenal again. He has also had a few things to say about Adebayor.

As you can see, I have no desire to talk about more past players talking about us and our players. It seems to be so frequently that an ex player has this or that opinion about the players, the board or our club.

Another ex player has spoken about Arsene being a father or something.
