Is Wenger talking to Zenit via the media? + Ade

I personally think that Adebayor’s form has coincided with the overall form of the team. Last season he was flying because he had players around him full of confidence. This time round things have been a little different in parts

Firstly, I would like to say good afternoon to you all.

As there isn’t much news to go on, I want to start off with non Arsenal news and talk about the transfer that is likely to stun football should it go through.

Matthew Etherington signing for Stoke City for £2 million.

Just messing with you. Kaka could make a switch from AC Milan to Manchester City for over ONE HUNDRED MILLION, I am so amazed by it that I had to use capitals.

It is just beyond a joke now. What makes this worse is the fact that Chelsea have just realised that they cannot continue splashing the cash which would have meant a level playing field (well, a little more so) for the first time since Abramovich entered the country along with his vision and wealth.

There is no doubt whatsoever that this kind of financial doping (As Arsene would call it) is ruining our game. Manchester City are loving it now but what happens to the future of the club? The owners one day may get bored of their play thing and sell the club for next to nothing as they don’t need the money then what happens with all these superstars who are earning £200k – £500k per week?

Something will have to be done in the summer from higher authorities. Salary capping, transfer limits, transfer structures will have to change. It is not myself being jealous, it is common sense.

I would love to see a Kaka at Arsenal but I would rather know that our club will survive in the future. Oh and plus.. WE’VE GOT CESC FABREGAS!!

Should the deal go through, it would see AC Milan (allegedly) over £100 million better off. Without trying to add more speculation to an already over speculated transfer window, Milan could well turn their beady eyes in the direction to a certain Emmanuel Adebayor.

Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti said recently

Adebayor would have been outstanding for Milan.

“His qualities fit perfectly into the way Milan plays.”

Anyway, this is the job for the press. I don’t know why I am adding to it because I hate speculation.

Speaking of Adebayor, Wenger has been speaking about his current form.

“He has not had the same form,” said Wenger. “At the moment, he is working very hard to come back to good form and is on a good way.

“He had dropped off a little bit, but that can happen sometimes. Ronaldo scored 44 last year, and it does not look like he will score 44 this season, because he and Adebayor had exceptional numbers.

“What is important is that he works hard and contributes to the team – if he opens the way [to goal] for other players, for me it is the same [importance].

“He is looking to come back to his best now.”

I personally think that Adebayor’s form has coincided with the overall form of the team. Last season he was flying because he had players around him full of confidence. This time round things have been a little different in parts. We have missed the creative edge of Rosicky, Cesc and Hleb so Adebayor’s goal ratio was bound to have suffered. As long as Adebayor puts in his shift for the side then the goals will come.

I have listened to the Arsene Wenger press conference again and it struck me that he was actually speaking via the media to Zenit St Petersburg.

“We are not close to signing anybody, but there again, we are in negotiations, yes – but we want to respect our principles,”

We are still far apart in our valuation of the player and are still talking but we will not pay over the odds.

“But if it does not happen, it does not happen. There again, we want to continue to improve and focus and what we can continue to improve here with the players we have.

“I believe we have a strong team and we want to do the maximum with the team we have.”

We have a very strong squad so if they don’t budge on their valuation then we can forget it and we don’t really care.

It is all part of the negotiation game played by both parties, they both want the same outcome but they want the best deal for their respective clubs which is understandable.

If I was to guess then I would say that a deal would be done (if agreed) on Tuesday.

So football is back tomorrow! I am genuinely excited about the match. Alex Song is hoping to feature but the phyiso team will have to assess him first.

We were beaten by them earlier in the season so the side could do with gaining revenge. From what I saw against Aston Villa, they play some nice football which should make for an entertaining game.

I shall go into more detail about that tomorrow. Oh before I go, there will be another great article from Ole Gunner put up late afternoon, early evening. Another good read.
