The crazy media are swarming all over Robin Van Persie’s comments about exaggerating going down. It is not as if every single person who watches football didn’t already know that players exaggerate going down, but hey, it is a story isn’t it?
A late and quick entry today. I have got to get myself ready for the big game this afternoon. I have phoned sky and sorted out espn on my box, gonna eat some food and then observe myself into the game.
Coming away from the first team for a minute, the kids have a massive test in the next round of the Carling Cup. Liverpool are the obstacle in the way of the next round. Do not expect Arsene to add first team players to the side because he will not risk any of his key players for a youth developing competition. Not winning the trophy will not be the problem, the problem will be not enough matches for the youngsters. The positive is that at least it is not at Anfield. If the team do not improve from the West Brom performance then it is unlikely that they will see the next round but we know that this bunch of players have the talent to score goals against anyone.
At least the pressure is off them now, the place will be electric if the likes of Wilshere, Ramsey, Merida and Vela and produce enough to get through.

Not quite sure why Van Persie is being so honest though. It is not as if he is talking to people who he can confide in. As long as it doesn’t influence the referee’s decision is a negative way then I am fine with it.
Funnily enough I predicted that Van Persie would score a penalty today in my Match Thoughts so if he does, what is the betting that he is the one brought down after those comments.
We shall see I guess.
Arsene Wenger must be feeling pretty loved right now, there have been some very nice things spoken about him from chairman Peter Hill-Wood and Fulham manager Roy Hodgson
Hill-Wood said:
“I don’t want him to leave, but he is very much his own man, I don’t think any amount of sweet talking from me will make any difference. He has a nice job here. He is well paid, no interference, he is allowed to get on with his job.
“He doesn’t have a president buying players for him and telling him to coach them and also to pick the team for him. He would tell us where to go if we ever suggested that. Not that we ever would.’
Only a lunatic would want our manager to leave the club especially when you take into account what he has been working with financially and what he has done so far. Apologies to the lunatics out there of course. I suppose he can stay pretty much as long as he likes as long as he doesn’t go crazy and start punching Hill-Wood in the gut every time he walks into work with a smile on his face just for a laugh. That may cause one or two issues.
Waffling now, erm.. yes the Fulham boss has praised his opponent for the day.
Hodgson said:
“Arsene’s career has been second to none. It has been quite incredible the job he has done there, at Monaco and at Nagoya Grampus Eight.
“He’s a first-class manager and coach and all the praise that has been showered his way is praise that, for me, has been fully deserved.”
I like Hodgson, not just for his nice comments to our manager but he actually seems like a nice guy and we know that you do not get many of those in the game these days. He has done a great job at Fulham, got them playing football as well so hats off to him. I just hope he doesn’t end up at Spurs like all the mid table managers who start doing well.
Results were going great until Liverpool and Torres have just scored again. 2-1 to them against Hull. Chelsea are in a Titus Brambles as Wigan are leading and Manchester United are still 0-0 with Stoke. I am sure there are plenty more twists and turns to come before the end play.
Enjoy the Arsenal game.
