Mannone beware of Gunners fans / Diaby the new Denilson / Attacking side tommorrow?

Cesc and Arshavin are two of our most influential creative players and they were below the high standards that they have already set themselves. Abou Diaby has shown inconsistencies also but he appears to be this seasons Denilson, blamed for everything

Hands up who saw that Mannone performance coming? Not many hands I see there. After Wenger’s press conference, many expected the man with the unspellable name to be drafted into the first team after his superb performance in the kiddie cup.

Squid Boy went along to the game and wrote a fantastic view of the game and his day out which you can have a gander HERE.

Typically Mannone is now being built up as the man to take over the world, find cures for deadly diseases, find food for the starving etc but the lad is only 21 years old and last week he was branded as shaky and not worthy of a place in the Arsenal squad. Whoever said the average football fan was fickle?

Unfortunatley for the young players at the club, many of our fans are just like the media. Cannot wait to build you up then the next minute writing you off. It sure was a fantastic performance for him and I am more than pleased for him but a little perspective is needed in his case. He needs to keep receiving confidence from his supporters and players and keep up high standards to remain in the Arsenal goal.

Manuel Almunia is not in good form this season and I have my doubts as to his chest infections, especially going on for so long but if he gets back to his best then Almunia is my first choice in the Arsenal goal. In the meantime we should keep Vito Mannone in as his confidence is high and it is for the other keepers to try and get back ahead of him.

It is great that we gave Wigan a good spanking and then the next week they destroy Chelsea. Judging by their early fixtures I was always a little baffled why they were being seen as these super duper unbeatable warriors. They have lost to Wigan, Manchester United have lost to Burnley and Liverpool have lost to Tottenham and Aston Villa. With us losing to two teams fighting for top spots, I would say that our results have been the best so far, wouldn’t you agree?

As long as we sweep aside the rest of the league then we shall be in contention for the league come the end of the season but what is needed is the team to raise their game. Many of our players are not playing at their best, in fact I cannot remember the last time where our whole team were firing on all cylinders together.

Cesc and Arshavin are two of our most influential creative players and they were below the high standards that they have already set themselves. Abou Diaby has shown inconsistencies also but he appears to be this seasons Denilson, blamed for everything.

But even though he has probably been more influential than Arshavin you know which player will be cursed from pillar to post. Supporters are bemused that Diaby was playing ahead of Rosicky but if Rosicky and Eduardo were playing ahead of Diaby and Bendtner then we would be hearing complaints about how we cannot defend set pieces against a big Fulham side. *sigh*

Robin Van Persie’s goal was very reminiscent of ex legend Thierry Henry. The way he controlled the ball and the instant shot across the keeper, what made it even better was that it was on his weaker side. Can you even call it that anymore? He has probably scored more on his right in the last year than he has on his left.

I will be even happier when his left footed efforts start going in.

Our game tomorrow should be interesting as I think we may well see the creative attacking side that we have wanted to see. Theo could start, Rosicky will come in and Eboue may come in at right back.

Mannone
Eboue Gallas Vermaelen Clichy
Cesc Song Rosicky
Walcott Eduardo Arshavin

That looks like fun and also gives some players a deserved rest. Anyhoo, I will preview the game a little more tomorrow. In the meantime, enjoy your day.
