Nasri down but not out, brace boys & Sendisoff

When I picked my strongest team Samir Nasri was on the bench but as we all know it is a squad game these days, as Aston Villa painfully found out last season

Bad luck? Coincidence? Fate?

Who knows, but yes the injury curse has struck its first blow of season 2009-2010. Samir Nasri is out for at least two months with a leg fracture after a training ground tackle from Abou Diaby. Firstly I have to make the point that it is utter foolish to start blaming Diaby for doing what every player from every team does all around the world during training sessions.

With Emmanuel Adebayor out of the picture, our lovely fans will have to replace their hate posters with a new large shinny picture to throw darts at. *sigh* some of the comments I have read are just beyond words.

Back to the matter in hand, Sami Nasri. As unlucky as it is at least it is not an Eduardo style break or a Bobby Pires type knee problem so hopefully before we know it Nasri will be making his comeback. If you were to choose a position to pick up a injury then creative midfield would have been high on the list from Arsenal supporters especially with Tomas Rosicky looking strong and sharp.

I suppose the fear now is trying to balance having our strongest side and also protecting Tomas Rosicky at the same time. When I picked my strongest team Samir Nasri was on the bench but as we all know it is a squad game these days, as Aston Villa painfully found out last season. Fingers crossed that the likes of Rosicky, Walcott and Eboue can stay fit for at least the period that Nasri is on the treatment table.

If Wenger wanted to convert Nasri into a defence player then he would have wanted to use the pre season for this so it is a massive shame for both the club and the player.

On to better news, we kicked off our Austrian tour in some style yesterday. Ok, maybe not complete style but a nice hatful of goals. [joke]10 goals in 2 games, the league is ours! [/joke] Wenger didn’t set out a strongest team, it was two balanced teams with a spread of our starting players in both halves. Unfortunately I cannot really talk about the game as I left my laptop at 3-1 up to go and play some football. I know, what kind of Gooner am I?

So I cannot really talk about individual performances but the goals were nicely spread around. Ramsey doing his own impersonation of Steven Gerrard without the physical violence of course.

(Although its ok to punch people in the head unprovoked but having French players is a crime in the eyes of some)

Ramsey, Bendtner and Van Persie scored 2 each with Willy G getting a single goal.

Does anyone know where Eduardo is hiding? I can only assume that he is not quite ready for pre season games just yet.

It appears that Philippe Senderos is still looking for a way out of Arsenal after Wenger confirmed that the Swiss center back is open to offers. It is a shame because he did many things very well, he lost confidence at times and his form suffered. In a different team, with another system he could turn out to be a very classy central defender.

With Gallas, Toure, Vermaelen, Djourou, Silvestre and Song who can also play in that position, we are more than well stocked in that area.

Back tomorrow.
