Pires wants Ade stay, Ade wants stay, does Wenger?

That’s a good lad, give me a motivated happy Adebayor with Cesc, Arshavin, Rosicky and Nasri behind him and I’d be happy

Good afternoon Gooners,

The season is gone, over with. *sniff sniff* It sure is a little sad, even though we had nothing to play for towards the end of the campaign, I am still going to miss our wonderful football. That is the thing about our football club, our football is so enjoyable, so pleasing on the eye. Watching players move the ball around the pitch so effortlessly is fantastic and long may that continue at Arsenal.

Tonight the younger versions will get the chance to strut their stuff and hopefully pick up the trophy at Anfield. I have been umming and arring about staying in and watching this but tonight is football night and when I miss a week I lose all my built up sharpness and start playing like Darren Bent and no one wants that. I will however be setting my Sky Plus box to record it and I shall do everything in my power to avoid the result until I get home and watch it.

The first leg was thoroughly enjoyable, it is always a delight to watch Jack Wilshere so I am looking forward to that. We will probably play on the counter with Wilshere given the chance to do what he does best and that is slip in runners like Sunu or Watt.

The only thing that can beat Arsenal is complacency and Jack had a few words to say about that.

Wilshere said:

“I think complacency is the biggest danger for us, Steve will let us know it’s not over and we’ll go there and look to do a job. We want to go to Anfield to get a result. We’ve done well so far but its not over.”

“I think any of us can break into the first team. We all have talent and know we can push on. We love playing together and that’s what we’re doing, especially when it’s with 33,000 fans behind us.”

Interesting that it is 20 years today that we got that famous league winning victory at Anfield and the kids go back to hopefully pick up some more silverware.

Speaking of kids, ok maybe not so much now but Arsene Wenger is not happy about Theo Walcott being used for both under 21s and the senior side which is fair enough. He has just had a big season playing many games, should have been more but never mind. Picking him for both level internationals is unfair on Theo during a period where he should be resting with his feet up watching videos of players going inside and outside your opponents so he can be ready for next season instead of burning himself out.

Arsene said:

‘I have nothing against the senior side, that is the normal Fifa dates. The basic problem is can you use a player for two different national teams during the holiday period?

You tell’em Arsene! I like Theo as a player, one of our outlets, we do not have many these days but he can hurt the opposition on the break and space ahead of him. He can be fantastic but he can also find it difficult to get into games. Theo Walcott doesn’t seem to have any middle ground as yet. If he isn’t getting in behind the opposition then he is pretty harmless, that is what he has to improve. His all round game, getting the ball to feet and using it better. This is where I so miss Tomas Rosicky, what a classy individual. Touch, vision, passing, shooting wow, what a player. I sometimes think that many forget actually how good he is. When that day comes when everyone is available for selection it will be juicy to see what players take to the field.

Robert Pires seems to be the voice of Arsenal these days. Talk Sport have their man in Spain Graham Hunter, The Guardian have Sid Lowe and we have Bobby Pires. Well I can tell you that he thinks we should keep Adebayor and not let him sign for AC Milan.

Pires said:

“He has compared Milan to Beyonce? Has he [laughs]? As far as I am concerned, I think that he is a talented player with interesting characteristics, and the fact that Milan are after him shows how good he is,”

“To my mind Arsenal should try to keep him because he is the kind of player that brings a lot to Arsenal.

There seems to be a divide about the big man. Logic says we should keep our best players and add to the squad. Talks between the player, agent and club will go on and we wait to find out what the result of those talks are.

Adebayor himself has once again stated that he is here to stay.

“I have always said that I feel good here and I am tired of repeating it,” Adebayor told Marca. “This team has a bright future ahead and this year we have made a step forward in the Champions League, which means that we are progressing.”

“I have no idea of what Wenger has in mind,” he said. “He has always been by my side, he is aware of my qualities. He is the one who takes decisions and for sure if he tells me that he does not count on me anymore, then I will search for a new team, but if he wants me to stay I will stay. Besides I will have to stay because I am under contract.”

That’s a good lad, give me a motivated happy Adebayor with Cesc, Arshavin, Rosicky and Nasri behind him and I’d be happy. Although I do have a soft spot for Eduardo but haven’t we all.
