Monday is here and that gets us a step closer to real football and by that I mean the Arsenal which I’m sure you fully understood and hopefully agreed with. Before then, fake football is back in action in midweek and hopefully our players can escape the evil clutches of fake football injuries.

I have been doing my very best to avoid transfer speculation since January. Whether it be, Eden Hazard, Gael Clichy or Samir Nasri’s contract. There is just no point in adding to the collection of whispers, especially given the fact that 90% of it is always just lies from people who make a living from making stuff up. How good a job is that? When you say it like that. Making a living from making stuff up. I would be wonderful at that.

I am a better dribbler of the ball than Lionel Messi. Seriously! In fact I taught him pretty much everything he knows. I even mixed in his hormone growth tablets into his cornflakes.

The one story that I am sure I will not be able to avoid is that of our captain. So what I will do is this. I am not going to get involved in too much of it all this summer, it is a waste of time. I will be instead investing my time in thinking about signing Gary Cahill as he is the answer to everyone’s problems and not just in a football sense.

If you suffer from cold sweats then just give Gary a call. He will solve it. If the pipes on your bathroom taps burst then drop Mr Cahill a line, he will come over with a wink and a smile and seal it up in a shot.

Back to Barcelona and Cesc Fabregas. Broke back Barca have said that they cannot afford Cesc and will not pay over the odds for him. *Yawn*

You know when little kids lie about something and they do not know how to style it out, well that is what Barcelona look like. They look like a 5 year old boy with chocolate around his mouth stuttering that he hasn’t taken the last chocolate in the cupboard.

They are playing their games nice and early this year. It is just a stupid attempt to say that they want him on the cheap again. We will get all the rubbish from the Spanish press as well as the English media who cannot wait to push him out the door. Well this is my stance.

Gael Clichy is not a happy chappy. I mean who wouldn’t be fuming with someone like Patrice Evra replacing you. That has to be the ultimate insult. Clichy has been playing for France whilst Evra was kicked to the curb for acting like a C U next Tuesday but he has now been reinstated back into the team whilst Clichy who has given his all and acted professionally unlike some, has been discarded so I think he has every right to feel aggrieved with the situation.

I love Gael Clichy and hope he sticks around for the foreseeable future. The only part of his game that I wish was better would be his delivery. Our full backs often have so much space and time on the ball in attacking areas and we really should do more from those situations.

Perhaps if that area of his game was better then he may have been kept as the French number one left back. Practice Gael, practice.

And now onto Jack Wilshere. It seems as if he would like to play for Stuart Pearce’s u21 team in the summer and I can understand it from Jack’s point of view. He is 19 who loves football, obviously a natural. He was probably the 7 year old kid who was doing kick ups outside his home straight after school but clearly he needs to rest after the season ends. We have seen what it has done to Theo Walcott, how Cesc Fabregas has suffered from missing pre season.

Is it a coincidence that Cesc, Song, Van Persie and Diaby all missed pre season either due to injury or extended rest due to a busy world cup. Three of the four have missed recent weeks.

One player who could be rubbing his hands could be Aaron Ramsey. If Wilshere does have an extended summer then it is likely that he will miss the beginning of pre season training as he would then be having his rest. The likes of Ramsey and Diaby might be given a chance to stake their claim.

Let us hope that Pearce and Capello see some sort of sense. Can you imagine if Wilshere was Ferguson’s player? Horrible thought I know but I cannot imagine Pearce risking the wrath of SAF. Wenger will be kicking and screaming but I wouldn’t be shocked to see fingers being stuck in ears.

On yesterday’s blog, I mentioned that Jens Lehmann may take part in the reserves to sharpen up his tools as he needs match practice which is fair enough but it got me thinking. We used the early stages of the Carling cup to give games to other squad members who were in need of matches. The likes of Emmanuel Eboue, Denilson, Rosicky, Gibbs, Bendtner and company all got football when the cup competitions rolled around and they needed those games. We could see that they were not as sharp as the first team members due to the lack of regular playing time. Well that is my thinking.

Our reserve team is full of developing youngsters who need games to progress, they need games to learn but we also have a collection of squad members who are missing valuable playing time. Reserve football could have given us a sharper Denilson or Diaby at crucial times but we have too many players who all need playing time for different reasons. Unfortunately we do not have enough teams to use.

If we could have another team playing in lower divisions like other countries then that would have been the answer. This is not allowed in England, so what to do?

I wouldn’t mind seeing a compromise happen somehow. Throwing in a Denilson one week around the likes of Aneke, Freeman etc and then a Rosicky the next week. Our squad members need to keep ticking over otherwise they will not produce when we need them to. They are not bad players, you wouldn’t last as long as they have in the Arsenal squad by being bad players. They are players who are frozen and their engines are not starting.

Fingers crossed that our squad players will not be relied on heavily as we have some key players coming back. Let us just get through this week without injury and we will see what happens.
