He has a bursting urge to drive tens of lorries packed with £50 notes into the Emirates. He wants to sit Arsene down by a candle light dinner and convince him to spend all his cash as he deserves it. Usmanov wants Arsenal fans to be happy and for Arsenal to win every single game without conceding any goals and scoring fives and sixes every game. Then we can all live happily ever after, although I still think that
Obviously there is only one place to start today’s blog. As you know Danny Fiszman passed away yesterday after losing his battle against cancer.
Fiszman had been on the board since 1992 and was vital to the move from Highbury to the Emirates. He is held in high regard by so many people at the club and he was a proper Arsenal man. Thoughts have to go out to his family during such a difficult time.
The Dallas cup starts on April 17th and Arsenal will be sending a young Gunners squad to represent the club. Mostly the under 18 academy team along with a few 19 year olds. The likes of Emmanuel Frimpong will be included which will be great. Benik Afobe may be back in time from loan to join the squad.
Arsenal will come up against the likes of Barcelona, Corinthians (Brazil), Tigres (Mexico) Eintracht Frankfurt and several MLS clubs, so it will be a far cry from what they are used to and the experience will be valuable.
I have no idea what type of squads will be sent out by the other teams but whichever teams they face they will be out of their comfort zone. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was pretty much the beginning of these type of tours. If we want to roll with the times then we have to catch up to many of our rivals who have been working hard in establishing a name in other countries, especially Asia and the States.
I think these matches will be streamed on an American network website. I cannot remember which one so if you happen to know then please jot it down in the comments and I will give you a virtual high five. Why would you not want one of those?
Anyone watch Tottenham get beaten by Real last night? And we need a new keeper? Jeez. Nice to see those lot who win something every time the year ends with one come back down to earth with a bump. Not that any sort of bump to the head of Tottenham supporters would cure the delusion they usually have.
I did say that I would be steering clear of the takeover stuff but this made me lol, lmao, lmfao and all the other laughing and rolling stuff that the kids of today do.
Alisher Usmanov will not sell his shares to Kroenke because.. wait for it… of his love for the club. Yup, you heard that one correctly, the Manchester United supporting Russian loves the club and I guess I will add the rest of it for him.
Then we can all live happily ever after, although I still think that some supporters would still be unsatisfied with what they see on the pitch.
‘If Wenger doesn’t start winning games by seven then he should just leave at the end of the season and bring in Gary Cahill!’
Back to the saviour that is Usmanov, he will not ask for a penny out of the club because he is filthy rich and isn’t in this for the money.
If this is close to your thinking then can I ask you to do me a favour? Ask the nearest person closest to you to slap you in the face. Quite hard, if you haven’t changed your mind then ask him or her to do it again but harder. Repeat this until you wake up and change your mind.
In other news it has been rumoured that Tommy V could be set for a come back for the reserves. It is very unlikely that he will appear for the first team again this season but the idea that he has come through training enough times to take part in the reserves is massive progress.
All I hope for now is that the achilies problems are finally put to bed and he can get ready for pre season training. He has some work to do to break up the Koscielny and Djourou partnership but if there is one player who has the quality to do so then that man is Vermaelen.
I miss his toughness, his ability to play a left footed cross field pass into the path of Theo Walcott. The long range drives that fizz past the post. The way he strides out of defence and fizzes a low pass into the feet of Cesc. Having said all that, it is going to be difficult for Arsene to leave the Verminator out of the side when everyone is fit *chuckles about the last thought*
If you didn’t catch it yesterday then I would recommend yet another great piece from Wenger boy called Forgotten Man: Theo Walcott. Check it out.
Right, that is about that for today.
Back tomorra.
