Sevilla copying Arsenal / Does busy Wenger mean transfer not close?

Were Sevilla taking the piss out of us a little yesterday? It almost felt as if they were doing their best to copy us

Were Sevilla taking the piss out of us a little yesterday? It almost felt as if they were doing their best to copy us. Conceding an early goal after poor defending, having all the possession, creating a silly amount of chances and not taking them and then finally scoring a late equaliser.

It certainly would have been good experience for the young players. There would not have been a reserve game in their lives where they would have had such little amount of the ball.

I now see the hype about our Polish goalkeeper. It was the best goalkeeping display from an Arsenal keeper for some time. He came out and claimed many crosses, got off his line quickly to grab the ball from strikers feet and made some fantastic reaction saves.

I was saying that I couldn’t judge Gibbs as a left back until he faced a quality wide man, and boy was he tested. To be fair it wasn’t just him who was roasted it was a number of players got taken apart by both wide players who look pretty dangerous.

Aaron Ramsay has to learn not to give the ball away as much as he does. He has done it a few times in pre season but it was more apparent against Sevilla. As Leona Lewis would say, ‘it will get better in time’

Wenger saying that he is too busy to buy a midfielder sounds like he is not close to a deal as yet, so it will happen after the qualifier.

“At the moment, I am not close to concluding any transfer deal, because I am too busy here,” he said after Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Sevilla in Amsterdam. “Maybe next week something can happen, but for now we have to focus on the Champions League and forget about transfers because it is a big target for us.”

The new name that keeps coming up is Swiss midfielder Goklan Inler, who plays for Udinese. To be honest, I know nothing about him, I have some videos on him from the Euros that I have not seen yet. If something becomes concrete them I will make a compilation on him but Wenger not ruling him out means pretty much nothing. He has not ruled out Barry, Alonso or any name that pops up in the press.

Wenger said:

“I do not rule out anybody completely at the moment,” he commented. “If we were in advanced negotiations with anybody else I would say no, so everything is possible right now.”

Not sure how experienced he is but I think quality and performance is more important than experience. I personally think the word experience is a little overused when it comes to football. Our inexperienced bunch were only 4 points and a win at Old Trafford away from the title, I doubt that we would have had the experience card thrown at us had that happened.

There are a few more things flying around like Walcott being more ruthless and Justin Hoyte staying and going but I do not have the time to write about it right now, so enjoy your Sunday.

Until tomorrow.
