Should Wenger stick with Eboue?, Walcott & Bendtner stuff

Well hello there,

It sure has been a while since I wrote a daily blog. Plenty has been going on behind the scenes and time hasn’t been on my side of late, but hopefully the ship is starting to steady itself and I can get back to my usual routine.

However, I did manage to write some views on the game against Sunderland that took place on Saturday.

It was a very important victory but I really want us to crank up the gears, we are not playing at our best and if I am honest it is worrying me ever so slightly, only because when we are at our best then we can win all of our remaining games, that I have no doubt.

The players cannot turn form on and off so we just have to hope that our best is not too far away.

Next weekends game at Stoke City will be a massive test (quite literarily), we have been undone at Stoke in our last two visits, hopefully the players will not have a mental block on the task ahead of them.

We all know what to expect from Stoke, it is hardly rocket side from a very limited yet effective team.

Perhaps the Campbell and Vermaelen center back partnership will be ideal for the Britannia stadium. It will be a game that will see many long throws and crosses into the penalty area and our two center backs are as good as any in the business at winning headers.

It will be interesting to see what decision Wenger makes on Sagna and Eboue. As well as Eboue played on Saturday, and yes he was fantastic, I think Sagna’s defensive contribution needs to be acknowledged. We have had problems with being caught on the break and positional awareness, so leaving out Sagna from our back line in tough away matches could make us more vulnerable.

I think Eboue’s defensive performances have improved, his tackling and strength have been superb but tactically he is still a little way behind the Frenchman, in my book anyway.

There is very little doubt that going the opposite direction, there can only be one winner. On current form, I believe that Emmanuel Eboue is a better offensive player than Walcott, he is making more correct decisions so that just shows how capable he is as an attacking fullback.

Arsene? It’s your call pal.

Much is being made of an appearance from Theo Walcott. Arsene has encouraged the player to ignore the England speculation and get on with his job which is more than fair enough.

To be honest, I get a little fed up every time it is mentioned. (so I mention it myself, I am strange) He has not played a) enough football b) not been consistent enough.

Shouldn’t he be playing well and establishing himself in this Arsenal team before any talk of England? Well, I kinda think so. I hope he goes to South Africa and does himself proud because he is a Gooner and I want all Gooners to be happy with their careers but the main objective for Theo should be so set Arsenal alight, not literally, that could be dangerous but with his performances.

He was much more involved in the game against Sunderland which is a massive plus but his end product is not yet there.

Arsene has also been speaking highly of Nicklas Bendtner, it is great to have his presence in our attack. His goal will give him some confidence and hopefully he can string some a run of goals together. I thought Arshavin would have really suited that role and judging my his previous performances and goals, I would have to say that I was proved wrong.

Bendtner is still a little rusty, the ball is not always sticking to him just yet but I am sure that will sort itself out with games.

Hopefully Arshavin’s vision will aid him from now until the end of the season. With Van Persie on the comeback trail and Eduardo close to returning, Bendtner has to produce on the pitch and ditch the potential label, if he is to stay in the side.

Fingers crossed that the team will have a few of the injured faces back against Stoke on Saturday.

Back again tomorrow.
