Swansea (a) – Iwobi & Ramsey Turn Second Half Screw

We were not able to create many scoring opportunities during that first half until an Arsenal counter attack on 37 minutes. Xhaka intercepted Nathan Dyer’s pass and then some neat combination play down the field resulted in Ramsey sliding the ball across to Giroud at the far post but the Frenchman could not quite get a connection. Is it me or does that happen quite a lot to ‘ol Ollie? I can never work out if the crosses aren’t good enough or if Giroud just isn’t quick enough to turn them in. If he starts to score those, he’ll be scoring 30 a season at this rate

Liverpool (a) – Heart Symbols to Joel, Rambo vs Santi & Pressing Issues

Joel Campbell once more. His pass to Aaron Ramsey for the first equaliser was beautiful. Mesut Özil better check himself before Campbell assists wrecks himself, or something. I have a little bit obsession for chipped goals and reverse through passes, Campbell is satisfying the latter obsession. He tried it again for Giroud's second goal and it was Ramsey once again making that run. Wonder if we will see some more of that during this season. From 78th choice on the flank for Arsenal, Joel may have moved to number 2 on current form. All the credit should go to him for his desire and commitment to work himself into this position, then of course his quality which is becoming clearer and clearer as the weeks roll by

Norwich (a) Thoughts & Predicted Line Up: Learning from Brom & Continuing from Zagreb

I am hoping beyond hope that the trio of Cazorla, Alexis and Özil can continue where they left off in midweek. When those players produce that level of football you can almost allow the rest of the team to focus on being defensively stable and not making mistakes because you know one of those three will do something special during the course of 90 minutes to find a breakthrough or two. The understanding between the three was evident against Zagreb. The understanding between Cazorla and Özil seems obvious while the Özil and Alexis duo seems to be flourishing more and more. Norwich cannot be seen as pushovers though, it took a big effort from Chelsea to squeeze past the Canaries by a single goal last weekend, Norwich have really attempted to tighten up defensively ever since Newcastle stuck six past them in October so it might have to be a case of looking back at what went wrong against West Brom and sticking to what went well

Let’s do the Ramsey wide thing (again)

So let me stop reminiscing of days gone by and let me focus on our Welsh wonder. Let me start off by saying that I think it is quite obvious that Aaron Ramsey is better in central midfield. His partnership with Mesut Özil, his running from deep and his underrated ball winning ability makes him a top central midfielder, no question. But the most important thing is the bigger picture and the bigger picture is the team. Arsène tried to fit Ramsey back into the middle against West Ham and pushing Santi Cazorla wider but the balance was not correct. Maybe it would have improved over time, maybe Coquelin and Ramsey could develop together but we did not really have the time or room for error to allow that to play out. The introduction of Francis Coquelin into the side means we

Norwich (h) – Controversy as Arsenal awarded correct decision

Mikel Arteta, you can lose any guilt you may feel over the Fulham penalty miss because this was a major pressure situation and you buried it. That said, I still think Lukas Podolski should be first choice if on the pitch. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain deserves a lot of credit for his taking the situation by the scruff of the neck and assisting the winner. We were passing it outside of the area and Norwich had the whole team behind the ball, without dribblers, it is so hard to pass through a team with that mindset. Without Gervinho on the pitch we lost the ability to pull people out of position. Chamberlain was positive, direct and this victory could well be down to that one moment when he took the pass from Cazorla and then drove straight at the heart of the Norwich defence. I still cannot

Let’s not make Walcott error with Ramsey

I re-watched the Arsenal vs Stoke City game last night, well most of it and it struck me how much Theo Walcott has matured as a player. How he is no longer the error ridden, predictable kid that would always try and beat his full back to their left and all they had to do was Andre Santos style stick out a leg and come away with the ball. He used to be the kid who would vanish from games, stuck on the touchline in home games where the opposition sat deep and was pretty much nullified. I am sure he went through a bad run where he didn't score at home matches, mainly because the space he needed

Chelsea (h) Thoughts & Line Up: Time for Arsenal to take the right path

For Arsenal, we all know that we will have to make do without the services of Mikel Arteta for the rest of the season. With Yossi Benayoun ineligible for this fixture, Arsene's options are fairly limited although we have a double midfield boost with Abou Diaby and Francis Coquelin returning to the squad. Aaron Ramsey is likely to start the game but which position? He has spent most of the season as the furthest forward but Tomas Rosicky seized his chance when Ramsey picked up and

Yanga-Mbiwa to Arsenal? ‘Good chance of transfer happening’ / Ramsey & Rosicky switch

I suspect that the midfield trio will be Alex Song, Aaron Ramsey and Tomas Rosicky. Personally I would switch Rosicky and Ramsey around which almost seems like suicide when you consider Rosicky has probably been our best player over the last month or so but with Arteta missing we need a player who can get our game started from the back, a player who

Arsenal team”, the same people also called for Wenger’s head and called for a new manager at Arsenal, it’s worth pointing out that even before our recent form, we had a run from Oct 21 till the end of December where we only lost 1 game in the league and that was a narrow loss to Man city away. It bothers me that paid journalists failed to spot the correlation between our injuries and our form that was so glaringly obvious for all to see, yet still, most journalists and pundits alike don’t point this out and still call this Arsenal side  “The worst ever” While reading the match reports this morning, little
