AV Post Match Podcast – EP189: Swansea City (a) – Primus Inter Pares

In today's Arsenal Vision Post Match Podcast we have a full house of Elliot (@YankeeGunner), Tim (@Stillberto), Paul (@PoznanInMyPants), and Clive (@ClivePAFC) talk about the 3-1 defeat at the hands of struggling Swansea City in the Premier League. Granit Xhaka’s defensive limitations are discussed, is it time to replace him for an internal solution? Lacazette’s form and character is questioned, does the Frenchman face a spell on the substitutes bench? New addition Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a big talking point. What will he provide the team that the team does not already have. Scott (@oh_that_crab) looks at Aubameyang's impressive numbers. Mesut Özil’s new contract and how we have to hope it’s not like Thierry Henry’s final Arsenal contract. Did Joachim Löw play a role in Özil’s contract? All this and plenty more in this week's Arsenal Vision Post Match Podcast.

Swansea (a) – Iwobi & Ramsey Turn Second Half Screw

We were not able to create many scoring opportunities during that first half until an Arsenal counter attack on 37 minutes. Xhaka intercepted Nathan Dyer’s pass and then some neat combination play down the field resulted in Ramsey sliding the ball across to Giroud at the far post but the Frenchman could not quite get a connection. Is it me or does that happen quite a lot to ‘ol Ollie? I can never work out if the crosses aren’t good enough or if Giroud just isn’t quick enough to turn them in. If he starts to score those, he’ll be scoring 30 a season at this rate

Swansea City (a) Thoughts & Predicted Line Up: Chance To Make Up Ground + Stars Return So Who Drops Out?

Who is Arsene going to drop? Alex Iwobi was one of our better players at Preston, including a poor first half from the team. He looks like he is on the way up again, does Arsene put the breaks on that rise? Lucas Perez has given us some massive contributions in the box in the last two games. Without him we may have lost both matches. And what of Giroud? It’s a funny one for me. I share the opinion that we are a more fluid and creative team with Alexis playing as our centre forward, Giroud is a great option from the bench etc. But he is fresher than most in the squad and is banging in goals for fun

Swansea (a) – Bellerin had no right, Özil & Three points

Just after half time Giroud nodded us ahead after yet another Mesut Özil assist from the corner kick. Crazily enough it was Özil's first set piece assist of the season. This is because Santi Cazorla has been taking most of the dead balls. I remember when Cesc Fabregas was getting all kinds of praise for his assist numbers at this stage last season, most of those were from set pieces, you would imagine that Özil would have even more to his name if he was number one taker of set pieces
