The Kronk on the verge? / Talksport / Spanish midfielders

He certainly is playing like a mature 27 year old right now and if the team continue to play the way they are then he as well as the other players will get better and that ladies and gentleman is exciting and frightening for the opposition

I think the best way to describe last night has to be poetry in motion. Wouldn’t you say? simply amazing. I still have flashes of some of our moves in my head. I mean. come on. How lucky are we to be an Arsenal supporter? Just splendid.

If you want to check out my thoughts on the game then you can read it HERE.

Whilst all that was going on, the Kronk was doing his thing. Well his thing of hovering up any share crumbs lying around might not be his thing any longer as he is currently on the verge of making an offer. Has anyone noticed that it has gone all quiet on the red & white front? I actually hate the fact that they have called their company by that name.

Back to the Kronk. I am not very happy about the club possibly changing hands, I would rather everything was left as it was. But like Arsene has said, as long as everything is left the way it is, in regards to the way the club is run then that would just have to be good enough.

Like I have said through all of this, lets just wait and see what happens from now, wait to see if he makes an offer, wait to see if it is accepted and wait to hear what the man has to say if that time comes. Speculation is pointless right now.

I flicked on the radio this morning whilst munching on my breakfast and I wanted to hear the reaction to last night’s action. Steve Stammers was on talksport and he was speaking to Alan Brazil and Ronnie Irani who were both drooling over our performance. Steve Stammers is now my hero as he nipped in and told them how he came on radio in the summer telling them to watch out for Arsenal but he was quickly dismissed with the pair telling him that Arsenal had no chance. Brazil quickly pointed out that it was early days and swiftly changed the conversation. Haha love it, I hope we shove all the negativity back down their throats come the end of the season.

Well I tell you what, Arsene must be a feeling rather chuffed with himself right now, being critised by all and sundry for his methods only for his team to be proving that they can do the business, well at least at this stage.

Arsene Wenger has been talking up his captain who has been in superb form lately.

He said:

“I believe he is one of the best of course and all the rest we leave to the media. What is good for me is that he has improved defensively and offensively. What is good as well is that he is 22 years old so there is a lot more to come from him. If he keeps the same attitude a lot more will come from him.”

It truly is quite amazing that he is still only 22 years old. He has been around for so long that I wouldn’t have blinked if I was told that he was 27. He certainly is playing like a mature 27 year old right now and if the team continue to play the way they are then he as well as the other players will get better and that ladies and gentleman is exciting and frightening for the opposition.

Wenger speaking today also told folk that he had no plans to rotate our center backs as he wants to build stability in defence which is a fair point but I do worry that over playing the likes William Gallas could be risky at the ripe old age of 33.

I would like to see Gallas being replaced when the game looks to be pretty safe as it was last night. At 3 or 4 nil it would be a good time to give Senderos a run out, just to give Gallas a breather ahead of the Wolves game.

But hey, I am sure Wenger knows much more than myself when it comes to resting players. I am sure Gallas will get his much needed rest when it come to the Carling Cup and hopefully the last game of the Champions League group stages.

Interesting comments about Fran Merida from Wenger, it sounds to me like the player and himself have already had a chat about his future and it appears clear that Athletico Madrid are doing all they can to prize him away from Arsenal. I have said more than once that Fran Merida looks like a fine player. Some of his attributes are above Aaron Ramsey in my opinion and has not looked out of place when he has had a chance the problem for Merida is that he is competing with some of the best attacking midfielders in European football and they are not old players who will be fading soon. So I can totally understand why Merida could be having doubts about his future. If Merida was in Ramsey’s position, making substitute appearances often and getting Carling and possibly FA Cup chances then I don’t even think going back to Spain would have entered his mind. Merida is now above the level of reserve team football just as Ramsey and Wilshere are.

I hope Merida stays and makes it into the first team squad but if he leaves then I wish the kid all the luck, apart from if they ever play against us of course.
