The return of Eduardo the king of finishers / Denilson / Jan transfer stuff

I would love to see Eduardo’s goal return over a long period where he is the focal point in attack, but given Adebayor’s strengths, I wouldn’t imagine we shall see that happen baring a long term injury to the Togo front man

Good afternoon Gooners,

I have been added to the sick list as from yesterday. Everyone seems to be struck down with flu, infections and so on and it is not fun.

Bits and pieces happening today but it is all about one man and that is Eduardo Da Silva’s return from that horrific leg break at Birmingham last season. He will feature in the reserves against Portsmouth at Underhill tonight and all those with Arsenal TV will be able to watch the game live. Don’t quite know why I am advertising for Arsenal but hey!

As much as I am excited by his return we mustn’t forget that it is likely that it will take him a little while to get back to full fitness and more importantly match sharpness. I imagine that he will be behind the pace even at that level so to expect him to make an impact in the premier league away from home is another thing all together.

There is no doubt that Eduardo is one of if not the best finisher at the club when he is match fit but like with all our strikers, I feel that they do not really have a suitable partner. He played his best Premier League football last season when he had Adebayor as his partner but I do not think they are suited. Eduardo is a penalty box striker, someone who plays on the shoulder. He needs someone who can play behind him and look for his runs, That is partly why Bendtner and himself struck such a good partnership in the Carling cup.

I would love to see Eduardo’s goal return over a long period where he is the focal point in attack, but given Adebayor’s strengths, I wouldn’t imagine we shall see that happen baring a long term injury to the Togo front man.

What Eduardo is missing is that real frightening pace that would guarantee him a place in the Arsenal side which is a shame. Perhaps Carlos Vela potentially has that in his locker.

Denilson has been a player who has divided opinion amongst Gooners more than anyone else so far this season. Patrick Vieira has clarified which side he sees himself in

“He’s a wonderful player. It’s not going to be easy for him because Flamini was a good player,” Inter Milan enforcer Vieira said.

“We need to give him more time to develop as a player but he can be one of the best players at the club. The more he plays the better he will be.

“He is young and has so many qualities and he’s only in his first years of playing in the Premier League.

“He and (Cesc) Fabregas can play together, all the good players can play together.”

My view of Denilson is that he has been consistent all season, on the whole better than his partner Cesc Fabregas. He has had a few poor games as well such as the Fulham game (who didn’t) but at the same time I can understand that Denilson isn’t an out and out defensive midfielder player. He is more of a box to box midfielder who covers ground, makes passes gives passing angels to others and does that well. The trouble is he hasn’t always tracked a runner off him which has lead to opposition goals. What some people tend to forget is that it is his first season as a first choice regular and is only 20 years old. As well as Denilson has been playing I would like to see some competition for him in the center of midfield.

It seems that many of the summers transfer rumours have resurfaced again as the January window takes a step closer (I can’t believe its Christmas next week)

Apparently we along with the scum down the road have been watching Gervinho of Le mans. He had something to say about this.

Gervinho said:

“I was not aware of Tottenham and Arsenal officials in the stands.

“I was told after, however it does not concern me as I need to do my job for Le Mans at the moment.

“They are both good teams. I have friends in both sides. I like Arsenal, but Spurs are good as well.

“I do not favour either team. I do like the Premier League.”

As you know there is often a translation problem from France to England so I have done some research for you and found out exactly what he said.

Gervinho really meant:

Yep, I know about the interest from both clubs, Arsenal are my dream and I would love to play for them because it would give me the platform to show my qualities and catapult me to stardom, I don’t wanna talk too much about that because I could mess up my whole deal. Oh that other club, Tottemdam or something are interested, but I would only go there if I cannot get a transfer to Arsenal because they will pay me more than I get here. Maybe I can leave after a year or so to a decent club, hopefully Arsenal but I have to pretend that I think they are a good team incase Wenger doesn’t want me. Goodbye and god bless.

Apparent Arsenal target Eljero Elia of FC Twente is now a target of Ajax who now have mega bucks after selling top striker Klaas Jan-Huntelaar to Real Madrid.

Rio Ferdinand the crystal ball holder has given us a foresight into the future by stating that Arsenal are not in the title race this season.

“I presume us, Chelsea and Liverpool will start pulling away a bit after Christmas,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“It’s not beyond them (Arsenal), it’s just my personal opinion that it will be between us three this season.”

Has anyone told him that we are only 2 points worse off than them? Yes they have a game in hand but just as our form has been patchy, so has theirs.

The more people write us off the better, hopefully the boys can use that and pull together.

Before I make like a tree, I just want to congratulate Gavin Hoyte on his new long term contract, the boss obviously sees potential in him so lets hope we can see that potential in the next few years.
