Ah yes good old speculation. The latest name? Lilian Thuram. If this was 7 years ago I would say yes, go for it. He was fantastic in his Juventus days
Not much in the way of good old fashioned Arsenal news today. It is yet another day of speculation. I am blaming Arsene for this. Without a transfer to discuss and get my teeth into (not literally, unless it is bbq spare ribs) then I am afraid alot of the summers talk will be about fabricated stories from the press.
I suppose they are in the same boat as us bog writers aren’t they? They have to sit infront of a desk every day and fill the sports pages when there is nothing concrete to talk about. Then that gets chucked down to us bog writers and then once more down to the fans. The difference is, they get paid!!
Anyway, sorry. I have lost my train of thought. Ah yes good old speculation. The latest name? Lilian Thuram. If this was 7 years ago I would say yes, go for it. He was fantastic in his Juventus days but at 36 he would be exposed to the pace and aggressiveness of the premier league. His old bones would not be able to cope with chasing Torres around the pitch one Saturday to champions league football on the Wednesday.
So, who else? Werder Bremen playmaker Diego has crept back up into the Arsenal news. Apparently he will be brought in to replace Hleb if the ice cream eating, dribbling, non shooting, funny haircutted, eye of a needle, Belarus international leaves the club. Diego does not look like a wide player to me, he looks like an in the hole type and I cannot imagine Arsene going for that type of player unless he wants to continue with the 4-4-1-1 in Europe next season.
Mathieu Flamini continues to prove how good he is at twisting the truth. He claims that he did not move to Milan for financial reasons. It was to play in the UEFA cup, I mean it was to play for a massive club who have been fighting against midtable. Yeah, of course you did. Apparently Arsenal were to slow and that is why he jumped ship.
Flamini, 24, said: “If Arsenal had offered me a contract last summer I would still be their player now.
“Last July I told Arsenal I wanted to extend my contract so, of course, I would have signed if they had offered me a deal . . . but they didn’t.
“It was difficult for me at the beginning. I had to see it as a challenge but I won’t lie, it was not easy. You have to be mentally very strong to cope.”
So what he is saying is that we should have given him a contract without proving himself? yeah ok, if you say so. To be honest, I am bored and fed up about hearing about Flamini and Hleb. This club is massive, we have morals and principles. If a player doesn’t want to wear the shirt then they should not be here. It is just down to the management staff to find and bring through a replacement to at least that level or potential. Simple as that.
