To buy or not to buy, That is the question

I actually think we still have a very good chance even if that midfielder doesn’t come in. As long as the attitude is right from the players then we can beat anybody. The worry for me is when we string a few victories together

I guess as it is the last day of the transfer window we should turn our attentions to transfers, well possible transfers. The trouble is, Nobody knows what is going on behind the scenes (hence why they are behind the scenes) therefore writing about something that only a couple of people know what is going on will prove quite difficult. We all know what position we need, we all have our own idea of what strengths that player needs to bring so it is a matter of waiting to find out.

Arsene Wenger must surely have been a little annoyed that Danny Fitzman has come out and said that we can spend a zillion pounds if we want to which isn’t really that helpful at this time, but surely he would have known this, the timing is a little strange to me.

There seems to be a few rumours flying around of ex skipper Patrick Vieira returning to the club. Personally I do not believe it in the slightest. I think it is a case of Vieira being spotted in the crowd against Newcastle and people jumping to conclusions.

I actually think that there will be no players coming in and Wenger will rely on what we already have, not that I know anything or that I want that situation but I can imagine that being the case. Any players coming in would be a bonus.

Gael Clichy seems to think that we will be ok without any new players coming into the club.

“We showed [on Saturday] we have the quality, but against Fulham it was not there,” said Clichy.

“Buying new players is up to the boss. He has shown everyone he is a great manager and if he feels the team needs one or two new players, then he will do it. If not, then I am sure we have the quality to do things.

“As for me, I just have to perform well for the Club.”

I actually think we still have a very good chance even if that midfielder doesn’t come in. As long as the attitude is right from the players then we can beat anybody. The worry for me is when we string a few victories together and that complacency comes out again.

Arsene Wenger has been waxing lyrical about new signing Sami Nasri.

“I think he had a complete performance [against Newcastle],” said Wenger. “He had a great touch on the ball, good vision and good team discipline.

“We like him to have the ball because we know, every time he does, he’ll do something with it. For me it’s a sign of a player that, when he gets the ball, you’re happy.

“You don’t have to worry about the rest.”

It is quite amazing how quickly he has settled in and is making such a positive impact on his team mates. He is already producing performances that Hleb reached last season and has already chipped in with goals.

It made me wonder what the team would be like with another creative passer like Rosicky. I love the pace and penetration of Theo Walcott but another clever footballer in that midfield would be lovely to watch. I will be interested to see who Wenger chooses when (if) everyone is fit.

Oh did anyone notice Mr greener grass Alex Hleb only get half and hour in a 1-0 defeat for his new team. He has already admitted that it is taking a while to adjust. Is it just a matter of time before he admits his mistake in leaving Arsenal and Arsene Wenger?

Have a good day. Keep coming back to the comments as I will be updating with any speculation or signings.

Until tomorrow.
