The truth of the matter is that we will not know how much Arsene has to spend, we can pretty much guess that he will not be given a big shiny red box with £130 million
Hello to you again,
I am feeling physically and mentally drained this afternoon, life ey? The guy sat next to me on my right who has forgotten his headphones is not helping me one bit. Maybe he thinks that everyone on this train loves his music. I doubt that very much. Maybe I should close my laptop, use it as a weapon then after I wipe any unnecessary substances off of it I can carry on with writing today’s blog. Ah well, lets get on with the footie shall we.
New Kit? Do you like? Do you hate it? mixed reaction to it from the comments a few days ago on various other blogs, I actually like it and think it looks rather smart. We have played in blue a few times, it is almost our third kit colour these days and as long as our first kit is red then I don’t care too much to be honest with you.
I really want to get away from the Wenger, Real Madrid stories because there is not much point to it right now but as the legend that is Robert Pires is speaking, I shall give him my time.
Pires talking to Setanta Sports said:
“My friend Arsene Wenger makes the headlines every day in Spain, His speech has changed a bit and, to be honest, I am not surprised because when such a club as Real Madrid try to hire you every year, you have to think twice about their offer.
“I must say that Madrid are above Arsenal in terms of status and for their history. Arsenal need Arsene Wenger more than he needs Arsenal. His youth policy will pay off in the future, no doubt.”
“Arsene is thinking about him and, honestly, I have no idea of what he is going to do. Both options are very good to him – he could stay at one of Europe’s best clubs in Arsenal or go to another one, who have a bigger trophy room, in Real Madrid. Sincerely I would not like to be in Arsene’s boots. It is a very, very difficult choice because you have to assess many aspects. Two days ago, I tried to think as if I was him and I told myself: ‘He has taken a direction, relying on youngsters, but is he capable of giving up on this?’
“Arsene wants to die with his ideas. As far as I am concerned, I cannot see him embarking on another boat. Indeed, he has not won anything in four years, but the most important thing is to know what he really wants.
“The question is: ‘Is he capable of leaving Arsenal?’ It would be starting from zero, obviously. And the Spanish mentality is not similar at all to the English one. He would not have absolute power at Madrid.”
As Pires said, his youth policy will work in the future no doubt, that I have no question about. It is Arsene’s job this summer to go against the odds financially and fix the short term. One massive part to that fix would be a better injury campaign, the rest will be done on the training ground and transfer window. As for his future, there is no question of that right now, we are two years early.
‘That is why Mean Lean doesn’t interesting himself in things like that, Mean Lean is only interested in the bigger picture. Mean Lean is a bigger picture man’ (Who the bloody hell talks like that?!! Seriously madness! *chuckles under his breath*)
Random war chests (I love that stupid saying), transfer kitties (almost as bad) figures have been flying about with the Evening Standard suggesting that Wenger will have £50 million once he sells Adebayor. You couldn’t make it up, but they certainly can.
Their Arsenal information has definitely gone down in quality since Steve Stammers left for the Daily Star , which could explain Peter Hill-Wood’s choice of outlet at times this season.
The truth of the matter is that we will not know how much Arsene has to spend, we can pretty much guess that he will not be given a big shiny red box with £130 million in it, he will have to wheel and deal, like he has done since the Emirates move and try and get value for money in both players leaving and players coming to the club.
Sebastien Bassong is also in the know when it comes to how the media in England works.
Bassong said:
“I spoke about Arsenal with some journalists because, like you, I read about their possible interest in me in the press, but it is just a rumour launched by the media, there is probably nothing.”
Even the players get themselves into a pickle when it comes to all the bull spouted out on almost a daily basis.
I have a feeling that this summers speculation will head into overdrive, not that it isn’t like that every year but the media know that they are doing some sort of negative damage to our club and they will not stop until we are knocked down, but we are Arsenal, we will fight back, we are Rocky Balboa, we are myself fighting against people without headphones, we the Gunners! *cue eye of the tiger song*
I am already very excited about next season, the only reason why I wouldn’t want it to start now (well after the season finishes) is because I want our players rested, fit and fresh. Not witnessing ANY of Rosicky is just incredible, only watching a handful of semi fit games from Eduardo is just a shame, give them as well as Arshavin a pre season and we should be rocking and rolling.
How good are those three players? Arshavin, Eduardo, Rosicky. Sheer class. Players of the highest level. I cannot believe it is not spoken about more across the blogesphere.
If they stay fit then they will be spoken about next season, that’s for sure.
Another question we have to ask is, will any of Arsene’s signings be from the Premier League? I hope so, I want them to thrown on the pitch and hit the ground running instead of rolling around for a few months then getting up to spend when the season comes to a close.
ok, enough waffle for now. Back tomorrow.
