Wenger said that we will know more in the next 24 hours, so I guess it is goodbye to a fantastic player and great servant to the club. According to the BBC, Toure is currently in talks with Manchester City over a £15 million deal
Afternoon all,
It was about silly o’clock last night this morning when I read Thierry Henry’s quotes about not advising anyone to join Tottenham because of Arsenal being in his blood and I suddenly came over all emotional. Henry certainly was one of the greats of our time and I doubt that I will see many better than him throughout the rest of my days.
I must admit that I do not like the idea of Patrick Vieira leaving for the dirty side of North London, but if he did I couldn’t change my view and opinions of that great man. The phrase ‘a monster in midfield’ must have originated from Vieira’s powerful displays.
Patrick Vieira is coming to the end of his career and deserves one last big contract before he plys another trade. I will give him a warm welcome back whatever shirt he puts on in future.
Going back to Thierry for a second, he seems to have the same views as I do about the quality and chances of this current Arsenal team.
Henry said:
“I know the way Arsene Wenger thinks and he will not go into the new season with ambitions to finish in the top four again. His only target will be to win the Premier League.
“And despite all that has happened at Arsenal this year, I still believe they have enough quality to do that.
It winds me up when fans suggest that Wenger is happy to finish 4th every year and not win the league, yeah right! Like a professional and winner would only settle for anything other than top spot. I guess that not being able to compete financially with the other three can easily be forgotten about during a good old fashioned winge session.
I have just listened to Arsene Wenger talking on Arsenal TV and it sounds very much like Kolo Toure is off. Wenger explained that we already have 8 central defenders and that we will have to move some into midfield (Song)
Wenger said that we will know more in the next 24 hours, so I guess it is goodbye to a fantastic player and great servant to the club. According to the BBC, Toure is currently in talks with Manchester City over a £15 million deal which would be good money but money is not what our squad is in need of. I wanted stability at the end of last season, I wanted Adebayor and Toure to be part of the squad for the coming season, any players that are brought in will need time to adapt to the team and probably the country which includes Tomas Vermaelen.
The sale of Adebayor and Toure could possibly add £40 million to Wenger’s transfer fund so we can expect some of that money to be reinvested into the squad. Like I said yesterday evening, I expect some late flurry of activity in the transfer market.
Before I go I would like to make everyone aware of my error yesterday, I wanted to take the piss by stating that I had inside sources on the Kolo Toure deal but the trouble is that I didn’t add anything afterwards to show that I was taking the biscuit. I don’t want to be seen as certain other bloggers who have delusion of grandeur.
Right, I gasstogo. Back tomorrow.
