Cesc Fabregas has a very healthy contract with Arsenal, he is our captain and is key to how our team work. He has grown up with many of our players like Van Persie
It looks as if the press have warmed their fingers up again for the first time in a long time. A long time in the world of the sports media. It was surprisingly quiet regarding players coming in and out of Arsenal but now you cannot escape from it. I flicked on my desktop computer late last night to see what the latest news was and after scanning around I decided to turn it off without reading any of the tosh stories.
The downside to writing a blog means that I pretty much have to read through most of the stuff if I expect to write more than a couple of lines.
Cesc Fabregas. Yup, Cesc.
He is being lined up by Barcelona and Read Madrid. No? Surely not? Yep, he is. Regardless of how many times he publicly comes out and states that he is staying at the club and wants to win trophies at Arsenal the same old stories get picked out of the dustbin and offered to us as lunch. Well, us Gooners are not bloody hungry, at least not for recycled crap. Why don’t they make it a little more interesting if they want to sell papers why not mix it up a little and say that Valencia are set to sell their the squad and stadium to bring Cesc to Spain.
Cesc Fabregas has a very healthy contract with Arsenal, he is our captain and is key to how our team work. He has grown up with many of our players like Van Persie, Tomas Rosicky and Gael Clichy. He is playing for a team that is on the up, that have yet to reach their full potential. The squad is stable with many players signing new contracts. Barcelona and Real Madrid should start planted their seeds elsewhere. Why not go for someone like Wayne Rooney?
Another rumour that is doing the rounds is that of Sol Campbell rejoining the club on a short term basis if Philippe Senderos departs the club. Sol Campbell is currently training with the club but I find it hard to imagine that Wenger would make such a move, even as a short term option. I would question Sol’s ability to jump into the team when needed and find the sort of level and rhythm required to make the grade at Arsenal.
The transfer window is a time for agents to use every trick in the book to get clubs interested in their clients, to drive prices as high as possible. We are often used in this game, the game to fill agents pockets and get a player a nice pay day at another club.
Talented Lazio forward Mauro Zarate is getting ready for a €40 million bid from Arsenal. Erm, yeah ok.
Jose Alberto Coppola said:
“I am in touch with Arsenal, A couple of days ago a director of the English club asked me about Mauro Zarate.
“Arsenal want to increase their attacking potential and to do so are already prepared to offer the €40 million that will deliver ‘Lotito’ [Zarate].”
Sounds like a whole load of horsey poo to me but hey I could be wrong, we could well be looking to spend more than we ever have in the past. Who knows but I do not buy it. He does look like a talented player but not the type that we do not already have at our club.
Away from transfer speculation if we can, Armand Traore has told Arsenal.com that he expected to be going on loan this season.
Traore said:
“At the start of the season the boss asked me to be patient so when I had the chance to go on loan I decided to wait until the winter transfer window and see what happens. Until the time I started playing I was convinced I was going to go on loan in January but then we had a few injuries at left-back so I had to come in. When you have to come in you have to prove to everyone that you can play so it was a bit of a tricky situation but it went well.”
It just goes to show that there is such a fine line when it comes to making it or not for our youngsters. This is why I find it a little crazy to write off someone like Merida who could find himself in the same situation as Traore and play himself into being a regular for the first team.
Gael Clichy and Kieran Gibbs will have a difficult task replacing Traore who is gaining momentum and improving with every game.
Before I go, I would like to point you in the direction of blog A Cultured left foot for a very good article about why Arsenal can win the league this year. A very good read as usual from a very well written and positive Arsenal blog.
Back again tomorrow.
