Transfers are for managers, it’s just common sense

It clearly will become more of a problem when more multi billionaire businessmen take over more clubs because it is more than a business for many people

Where has the week gone? It doesn’t feel like a Friday to me, more like a Tuesday. Strange.

Most of the news today is basically gearing towards Bolton on Sunday, but away from that Arsene Wenger and Alex Ferguson are in agreement about managers being in full control of the footballing side of management and no interference from owners as has happened at West Ham and Newcastle.

Both successful managers were in attendance at the black-tie League Managers’ Association dinner for their Benevolent Trust and Community Fund at Wembley last night talking with eachother about the latest Playstation 3 games and who would win in a fight out of…etc

However they did stop and talk to the media about the concerns in the modern game.

Wenger said:

“The quality of manager is determined by the quality of control,” said Wenger, speaking with 12 years experience as Arsenal manager.

Fergie said:

“We need strong, capable managers who can stand up against those that try and change the principles of the game.”

“At no point in our history has the board ever overruled a manager.

“But the fear is that we have owners that will (make managers) become project managers or basically just fitness coaches who will determine who out of the 16 are the fittest on the day.”

To me it is just common sense, everybody has different ideas on how to run a team, what their methods are and which systems they want to play, therefore surely it is down to the manager to bring in which players he brings in as he is supposed to be the specialist.

It clearly will become more of a problem when more multi billionaire businessmen take over more clubs because it is more than a business for many people.

Former winger that we all love, Bobby Pires was speaking to Spanish journalist Guillem Balague about the Arsenal.

I think they have moved up a level. I believe that this will be their year. The players are much stronger, they are a young side that has gained a lot of experience. I don’t know, I just have a very good feeling about Arsenal this year. I don’t know whether it will be the Premiership, or the Champions League, but I believe they will win at least one title this season.

Bobby, I agree. I will never forget that goal he scored at Villa Park against Peter Schmeical. One of those moments that stick with you. Sheer genius.

Finally, Arsenal Football Club have kindly donated a signed a shirt to be auctioned off on the official website www.rayofhopeappeal.org.uk

Ray has also signed the shirt. Read HERE for information.

Have a good day. Drop your view in the comments.

Until tomorrow.
