Just as us Gooners were getting all excited about the return of Robin Van Persie, Arsene Wenger has come out for a second time

Just as us Gooners were getting all excited about the return of Robin Van Persie, Arsene Wenger has come out for a second time in a short space and retracted his comments.

Wenger said: ‘We will not rush Robin van Persie back, but the news is quite good.

‘It is difficult to say, we go step by step, but he should come back into normal training very, very quickly now.

‘Maybe I am being a little over-cautious in my statements, but I do not want to put any special pressure on him.’

It may even be mind games on his part, it all depends on how well Van Persie responds in training and what his general fitness and sharpness is like.

Just his presence on the bench will be enough to galvanise the squad and strike fear into the Aston Villa defence both at the same time. He is still the one player in our squad who can make something happen out of nothing.

Van Persie has that magic spark.

We are going to need that in matches when everything isn’t going our way. That is the one thing I have missed with Thierry Henry’s departure. Although we are a much stronger team without him, we always knew that even if we were not playing well that he could conjure something out of nothing and skim past 2-3 players and curl it around the keeper. Adebayor, Bendtner and even Eduardo do not possess that in their locker, well not at this stage on their careers at least. Theo Walcott perhaps has a little more explosiveness about him but is a long way off doing it week in week out. Van Persie can receive the ball in a tight area and pull out a magic piece of trickery and finish emphatically. (Inter Milan pre season springs to mind)

I am still interested to see what Arsene will do in regards to Adebayor’s strike partner. Abou Diaby is now fit and in the squad which gives Arsene that option to take Theo off the wing if he so chooses. We could see a team looking something like this..

Almunia
Sagna Gallas Senderos Clichy
Hleb Cesc Flamini Diaby
Walcott Adebayor

Eduardo Da Silva is receiving alot of get well messages from players around the Premier League, Martin Taylor has come out and aired his views for the first time since the now famous incident.

“I will be really happy on the day when I see he is back in the Arsenal and Croatia line-up and when he is scoring goals again,” Taylor told The Independent.

“The injury was terrible enough. When he gets back to fitness and he puts the ball in the net for Arsenal for the first time, we will all feel much better. People will be able to see that accidents like these are the nature of football and you can recover from it.”

Tottenham new boy Alan Hutton has thrown in his two pennies worth

“I know what Eduardo is going through. It will take a long time but he will get back to playing the way he can.” Said Hutton.

I said earlier in the week that I think the Flamini to Juventus rumours are a load of *beep* beep* beep* but now I am feeling a little less confident. Obviously we do not know what is happening behind closed doors but it doesn’t look very healthy really, especially in such an important time like now. Its hard to know exactly what kind of money Flamini wants but it is reported that he has turned down around £40,000 a week which I guess in this day and age isn’t much for a key player in a side who are raking in huge amounts of profits.

Something quite abnormal happened last night, yes it was truly strange. I just cannot understand what was going on but the Arsenal ladies lost 1-0 against the Everton ladies last night. I saw the goal scored on sky sports news and I went away for a little while, I flicked it back on again and I expected to see 6-1 or something similar.

Until tomorrow.
