The summer hype about Jack Wilshere died down as Arsene Wenger kept his young starlet under wraps from the English media. Wenger has decided it is time to stir it back up again by raving about the 16 year old

Good morning fellow Gooners,

Doesn’t it just feel great to be a Gooner at the moment? It makes me laugh how everything seems all rosy around blogs, forums and from the media when a few weeks ago Arsenal were on the brink of relegation. Anyway, lets just go with it because any defeat that comes along will be met with the usual cloudy doom.

The man of the moment Carlos Vela has been speaking about the club and his manager.

“Arsene has a great reputation for working with young players and that was shown against Sheffield United,” said Vela. “He puts faith in young people and it’s great that the oldest player was the keeper at 23.

“We are very close as a group. We have a strong friendship – it’s almost like we are a family. You can see that from the way in which we are playing. All of the players looked as if they have a great future.”

Wow this kid is doing everything right at the moment. If you think about how much Theo Walcott, Eboue and Flamini improved by gaining experience in the first team then you have to wonder how far the likes of Jack Wilshere, Carlos Vela, Aaron Ramsey etc can improve.

It is very early to say but I feel that if Vela gets his chance to have a run in the first team then he will force the manager to keep him in the side. He is potentially the only striker that we have that has everything in his locker. He is quick enough to get away from the last defender, he is a natural finisher, and is a good link up player.

The summer hype about Jack Wilshere died down as Arsene Wenger kept his young starlet under wraps from the English media. Wenger has decided it is time to stir it back up again by raving about the 16 year old.

Wenger said:

“Jack Wilshere is a quiet boy, very determined and focused. People tell me he is a bit like Liam Brady because he has good balance and a change of direction.”

I remember watching Cesc Fabregas at 16 and you could see that the boy (at the time) had great vision and awareness on the pitch. It was obvious that he would develop into a quality player. Jack Wilshere has the same presence about him. He has a swagger when he is on the ball, his vision is fantastic but the one thing he has that Cesc doesn’t, is his ability to glide past players which makes him that more exciting to watch. Wenger said somewhere (pardon me as I cannot remember where) that he feels that he will be a central player in the future. I also feel that he would be better there long term.

How I would love to watch a 26 year old Cesc alongside a 21 year old Wilshere in the center of midfield with Wenger still in charge of Arsenal.

Arsene has spoken about our defensive record in recent games being missed. Maybe that tells us that Arsene does not read many Arsenal webites, because there has been much debate about our defending.

We have defended very well,” Arsène Wenger told Arsenal.com. “It has not been noticed yet but we’ve only conceded those two goals from two corners. In open play we are quite solid. That, for me, is a good response and a good explanation for the team attitude in the squad.”

“What makes me happy at the moment is that we have a good combination of defensive balance and offensive efficiency,” said the Frenchman. “Sometimes when you work on defending better you lose a number of goals.

“But at the moment we are combining the two and it means when everyone puts the effort in we still can be very dangerous going forward.”

I do think that we are not quite as good as the stats suggest. We have had many shaky moments that haven’t been punished. Perhaps it wouldn’t look as good against a more efficient side. The plus points are that we can keep improving and learning from our mistakes. I was watching the Carling Cup match and was impressed by the aerial dominance from the Djourou/Song partnership. I am not saying anything radical like they should replace Gallas and Toure but I would love to see how they would fair with the rest of the full team around them. Song and Djourou are both better in the air than their first team colleagues but probably do not quite have the recovery of especially Toure.

It would be interesting to see what we would be like from set pieces though. Just a thought.

Former front man Anelka has praised us again.

Arsenal are leaders with style, after our draw (against Manchester United),” Anelka told Les Dessous du Sport. “We are used to watching them play like this. They have always played extraordinary football.

“They have a super coach who knows how to get the best from his players.

Thanks Nic. I bet the leaving Arsenal situation plays over in his head like a bad dream. Ah well, never mind. Just use that to educate others, that would be a great help, now off you pop.

Appologies for the lack of match report during the day yesterday, I was pretty busy so finding the time to write, work and upload proved quite difficult. I did manage to put it up just after 6pm, There are some bits about the Arsenal template, Jack Wilshere, central midfield and of course Carlos Vela, so if you want to have a read then Click Here

That is it for now, must dash an all. Drop your view in the comments.

Until tomorrow.
